Weekend Coffee Share.....Come Sit with Me

It's another week of Weekend Coffee Share. I always love everyone's posts. Are you like me and try to visit everyone? It doesn't always happen but I try. I have loved getting to know different bloggers and I figure if they take the time to write a post, I'll find the time to visit, even if it's a week later.

If we were having coffee we'd probably talk about...

The weather: Thursday was beautiful, but rain will be back in the forecast. I know it helped with the fires so I won't complain yet.

What we're thinking about: The various podcasts, IG stories and even quotes from the books I've been reading this week have all got me thinking about a variety of things, but that's a good thing. One gal mentioned in an IG story that peace is not always a feeling, sometimes it's just a knowing". I found that so good. Something to really ponder. I love little nuggets that make me think a little deeper.

What we're thankful for: Do you ever find yourself asking this question and then feeling like the things that come to mind are "cliche" and seem like the same things over and over (which isn't bad), but it also makes me pause and ask myself if I'm not really paying attention to all that's around me. For example I just thought of the customer who came in today to pick up a package we said he could have delivered here. He paid the holding fee and when he left he handed me a Starbucks gift card and said "this is for you ladies, thank you." I thanked him and opened it up. It was for $30. So I'm thankful for customers who care.

What we're reading or wanting to read: I started my book club book. Wow, it has me all over the place on what I think is going on. There was a film adaptation from the book so for our meeting next month we're going to watch the movie and then talk about it and the book. That should be fun. I haven't read the other two books I have. We are reading Plain Truth by Jodi Picoult if you didn't see that last week.

I've been back to the link parties (I still am not sure if that's what they're called), so going through and reading everyones posts, etc. I think I'm caught up from last week.

Around the House: As I opened my refrigerator I was thinking that it's been about 6 months, almost 7, since we've fully occupied this part of the house. I can honestly say there isn't really anything I'm not happy with, which is nice. Our dishwasher is a bit different than our other one so I do feel like we're still learning how to load it in a way that utilizes the space well.

We still haven't made any progress on the rest of the porch. Uggh.

I'm still trying to figure out what to do with two of the walls and the entryway and I HAVE GOT to get photos ordered for the frames for our gallery wall.

I did do just a tiny bit of outdoor decorating for fall.

What we've watched or listened to: Watched? nothing. Listened to? I've listened to quite a few podcasts this week that were really good. I'll list them here if you're a podcast listener, you might enjoy them.

A Vulnerable look inside my healthy Journey and Why it's Stuck by Jenna Kutcher on her Goal Digger podcast.

Episode 1 of They Don't Bite podcast by Jaron Myers.

The Making of "feed these people" on Jen Hatmakers podcast...interview with her books stylists.
That was fun since I have the cookbook. I enjoyed going through it as they talked.

Getting Spicy with Instagram Foodie Phenom Tieghan Gerard of Half Baked Harvest on Jen Hatmakers podcast. I follow HBH on IG so that was fun to listen to.

I also picked up some great nuggets here and there as I listened to IG stories and reels.

From the kitchen or restaurant: Well, no restaurants, though last night hubby picked up dinner from Costco while he was there since I just wasn't feeling up to cooking. With the weather cooling down I have done some soups. The other day I made Zuppa Toscana, one of my favorites. I did it in the crockpot and my daughter finished it off before I got home. Also on the menu this week is a Portuguese Kale soup...We had some of this in Massachusetts and it was so good I wanted to try it. I think I found a similar version of the recipe online. One meal my hubby likes is when I take stew meat, marinate and then cook it on the stove. We eat it with rice, or salad, or whatever we decide. Super simple and quick. I need to sit and make my menu for next week.

Favorite quote of the week: This weeks #WQW them was a writers choice...I decided to find some quotes to spur me on with my WOTY. I found a few new quotes that I thought were so good. I hope they encourage you too!

Favorite photo of the week: I sure missed hanging out with these ones while we were gone. So I'm sharing a few pics from our day on Wednesday.

All three love sitting and looking out their window. so cute.

This one LOVES her dog, Ginger, and Ginger, bless her doggy heart is so patient. Pepper literally was laying on her and playing with a car for about 5 minutes.

Indy loves for me to draw when I'm there....have I ever mentioned that I don't draw. However, I decided that I would try because I don't want him to say "well, I can't...or I don't know how". So I drew a few things on Wednesday, and then he decided he wanted to try...so he mostly did that piece of watermelon...I did help with a few parts and we both colored it. Then he wanted to draw Sonic, so I turned the video on and he watched intently and then tried to copy. He actually did pretty good for a 4 year old. The key for me was that he was at least wanting to try something that probably would be hard...I just kept encouraging and telling him he was doing great, because he was. Random and Not so Random Things

I'm working at the pumpkin patch tomorrow and Sunday. I love working at it, but there's a part of me that would like to just stay home and relax. However, this year I only helped for 4 days. The extra money is kind of nice and I usually buy something fun for myself. A few years ago I bought a lens for my camera.

I finished a few blog posts other than the normal weekly one I participate in. I normally participate in Tuesday 4, Wednesday Hodgepodge, Writers Quote Wednesdays, Weekend Coffee Share and Sunday Stills. There are a few others that when I remember I like to participate in, like 10 on the 10th. All of these are so fun, but I also want to get around to regular blog posts. So this week I finished up a post about our Fort Vancouver day with Marsha and Terri, and I finished the first post of our New England Trip. My hope is to get more than one up a week...we'll see how my time management goes.

Well, I really should go get my grocery list made. When I work at the pumpkin patch, not much else gets done since I'm there from open to close.

Check out all the other posts on Weekend Coffee Share, hosted by Natalie the Explorer. I'm off to go visit some now. #weekendcoffeeshare

  2. Hi Kirstin - that was a great catch-up on your week. How nice of your customer to give you that giftcard. My son-in-law does window cleaning and is often given bonus cash - and there's usually coffee and scones/cake if the customer is a senior citizen (they seem to like baking for him!) I think it's lovely to see other people being generous.

    1. Awww that's so awesome. I think sometimes too, senior citizens are so appreciative and they also love doing something for someone else.

  3. It's good to think about whether you pay attention to everything around you. I know I don't but sometimes I sit down and think about all the people in my life for example and that makes me happy. I really like your outdoor decoration! So autumnal.

  4. Weather-wise, we had our first snowfall this week. It didn't stay and I'm hoping we will make it past Halloween night before it comes to stay. I love the colours of your front door/porch. I actually love the door itself.

Thanks for the virtual coffee, Kirstin. Have a great weekend.

  5. Hi Kirstin, it sounds like you're all cozied up after your trip. Catching up can be a burden, but you're doing all kinds of fun stuff, so maybe not in your case. One idea for your cooking: my wife made a huge crock pot of ministroni (sp?) soup. It was so easy and tasted wonderful. What we couldn't eat right away, she packed into mason jars and plastic ware a few for the frig and the rest for freezing. they make a great defrost and enjoy meal.

  8. Hi Kirsten, this is a great wrap up of your week. How lovely the customer was who gave you the coffee card. I often think, how easily we criticise but often don't stop to give your appreciation. I'm guilty of it too sometimes.

  9. What a sweet post. I would love to have chat in real life :) I've been reading a lot this week, mainly thesis about different aspects of education, for my master's degree. I think I'm going to give myself the gift of reading one real book really soon. There's always a long list of things to read for school. I have one year left before I get my degree, if I keep this up, so its my plan to do so. Reading, when I get to choose the book, is something I find great pleasure in. Thank you for the coffee!
