Taking in Life Around Me.....#Sundaystills...Theme: Dessert or Desert or Dessert in the Desert

This #sundaystills challenge is hosted by Terri from Second Wind Leisure. I've also been loving visiting the blogs of the other participants and being inspired by their interpretations of the theme. Sometimes I'm a week late commenting but I do try to visit everyone. After all, if you take the time to produce something, you sure hope people visit.

This weeks theme is Dessert, or Desert or Dessert in the Desert....inspired by Teri's recent road trip which included visiting the desert and eating dessert in the desert towns she visited. I'm leaning towards dessert for my theme since I haven't really been to the desert. 

Central Oregon, where we visit often is considered the "high desert". Maybe I'll see if I have some photos. I definitely have some dessert photos and I'll include links to recipes when I can. 

I love to bake but I don't do it that often, usually when we have company or for holidays. Speaking of "holidays", my 4 year old grandson has begun calling vacations "holidays". I love it and am not going to correct him..I love the term holiday for vacations. I think he got it from watching a European cartoon.

Okay, on to this weeks challenge. I was trying to load some more photos but my computer is having some issues with opening photo files...ughh. I'm not techie in these areas either so it's been a pain.

This was a gluten free and dairy free S'more Pizookie...I can't find the recipe I used, but trust me, it was really good. 

I love macarons...we grabbed these from a bakery in France in 2019. We stayed just over the border in France before flying out of Switzerland. So good. 

After my dad passed away I decided to make this sourdough cinnamon raisin bread because we had talked about it often. The key to this (and why can't bread be dessert?) was soaking the raisins in vanilla. Game changer. Here's that recipe. 

I love a good chocolate chip cookie, and my youngest daughter makes the best. The above cookies I made..not as pretty, but I was experimenting. My oldest daughter sent me a recipe for chocolate chip cookies made with sourdough discard. Wow! These were so good. Here is that recipe.  

A favorite fall treat in our house are these copycat Starbucks Pumpkin scones. Here's that recipe. 

For our granddaughters 1st birthday I made GF/DF cake pops. They were a bit tricky, but they turned out good. 

A few years ago my youngest daughter made homemade cannoli. They were so good. I can't find that recipe, but this one is fun..I made puff pastry cannoli, which was basically a deconstructed cannoli, and so yummy. 

Last Valentines Day my youngest daughter hosted a Galentines dinner at our house. She made this heart cake using this vegan chocolate cake recipe. It was so pretty and so good. 

On our 2019 trip to Italy, we ate A LOT of gelato! Oh boy. We had one just down the street from our airbnb. Good thing we did a lot of walking on that trip. 

Homemade strawberry shortcake using Joanna Gaines yummy biscuits! So good. Here's that recipe. I have one of her cookbooks and the recipe is in that as well. 

Another favorite recipe are these Strawberry Lemon Cookie bars with Lemon Glaze. Oh man! I could eat the whole pan. Try them...recipe.

We call these little guys, energy bites. I used to make them all the time when my girls had tournament weekends. They were easy to grab and snack on. I also will make them before we go on car trips or plane rides. They're handy to snack on and saves us from make a less than stellar snacking choice. Recipe.

Last but definitely not least is my youngest daughters most requested birthday dessert. She ALWAYS asks for Peanut Butter Pound Cake. I don't know why I even ask. I know what she's going to say! Here's the recipe. It's a winner. 

Like I said above, there were so many other photos I was trying to add, but my computer is just giving me issues and I'm a little stuck on how to take care of them at the moment. But you can always search the blog under the "from my kitchen" tab and find more yummy desserts.
