Taking in Life Around Me....#Sundaystills

This #sundaystills challenge is hosted by Terri from Second Wind Leisure. It's a great themed photography challenge that you'll enjoy. I love seeing the other participants interpretation of the theme each week...it causes me to think outside the box. I joined in hopes of it pushing me to get out and take more photos...I have to some degree, but I also like that Terri is okay with us finding photos in our archives, which is also a lot of fun. So check out my photos and then head over to Terri's page to participate or visit other's posts. There are some awesome contributors who always inspire me.

This weeks theme is "seen at a fair or rodeo". I haven't been to a rodeo in years. When our oldest daughter was little we went to the Pendleton Roundup two or three times. This is one of the most popular rodeos in the area. You have to reserve lodging at least a year in advance. Unfortunately, I have no photos of any of those times.

We have, however gone to many fairs, both with our girls and with our grandkids. We live very close to the Clark County Event Center which hosts the Clark County Fair every August. We're hoping to go this year, but I'm not sure it's going to happen. Schedules are a bit crazy this summer.

I did find one photo from the Pendleton Roundup. It was 1998 so she was almost turning 3. Her favorite phrase was "let er buck"...as they'd say that a lot. I wish I could find my other photos, though I don't think I have many.

Next up are ones of the Clark County Fair over the years.
Not so sure about renting a robot. Kids thought it was kind of cool though.

There's some pretty good fair food. My grandson had to have a giant corndog. There is a booth famous for their pies and another famous for their milkshakes.

I don't know how many times we went on the merry go round!

The gentleman above is the great uncle of a friend of mine. He is at the fair every year and is fun to talk to.
I love visiting the barns and the buildings that house all the 4-H animals and the open class exhibits.

I spy with my little eye! My mother in law entered her Swiss cookies Bratzeli in the fair and was so happy to win a ribbon.

The grandkids love to watch the dogs jumping in the swimming pool for distance. I don't know what it's called.

Indy will always want to go on the swing, from the time he was tall enough!

The Clark County Fair always has great activities for kids. There's usually an entire building dedicated to kids activities.

Check out this cool limo from the 60's. WOW!!!

The remaining photos I took in 2011 when our family went, along with another young man from our youth group. This was when I had an entry level Nikon DSLR. I think it was the D3400 or something like that. I loved it, and managed to get some fun photos even in the dark. At that time I wasn't very confident on manual so I probably had one of the pre-programmed settings on it.

I do NOT even know how I got this shot...it just turned out...I wasn't even trying for something cool, I was just trying to get them as they came around.

With Joy Unquenchable,
Kirstin

    1. Thank you. I was so pleased with that one even though it was totally accidental. We made a canvas using that image.

  3. What good fun Kirstin. I love the action photos especially the girl with her hair gone wild on the ride. That huge corndog and that beaming smile is also a winner
