Wednesday Hodgepodge
2. Where in your life are you a lion? I think maybe I could be a lion in the way I stand for what I believe or in feeling protective of my family. I don't naturally have a "lion" personality. Lions signify leadership and I think that I can be a leader but not in the dominating sense, more in a quiet sense, stepping in when needed. Where are you a lamb? In my relationship with my girls and grandkids, but we can get loud and crazy. But a lamb can signify peace, and I tend to like creating a peaceful atmosphere, but also a fun one, and lambs can be playful.
3. The Hodgepodge lands on National Pound Cake day. Do you like pound cake? It's fine. I can take it or leave it, unless, its...... If so do you have a favorite flavor? I make a peanut butter pound cake every year for my youngest daughters birthday. I don't even remember where I got the recipe but it's so good. Let's play this or that-
- pound cake or layer cake? Layer cake...chocolate with vanilla frosting. or peanut butter frosting.
- pound cake or cheesecake? Pound cake
- pound cake or angel food cake? oohh tough one. I'll go with pound cake
- pound cake or brownie? brownie
- pound cake or pie? Pie
4. What makes you feel childlike wonder right now? The hope of spring. I'm looking forward to it. Monday I felt almost childlike wonder at the warmth I felt, the blue sky, the scent in the air...it truly felt like a shift was happening. Also, taking photos makes me feel childlike wonder, watching nature, etc. Also my grandkiddos make me feel childlike wonder. I recently got a new camera lens and I was so giddy. I love taking it out and practicing with it. Here are two I took of eagles on the local river. If you love eagles, you can few a whole album on my Facebook page (Kirstin Bozich Troyer).
5. What's one thing you need to add to your wardrobe to get ready for spring? Ha! I literally wear the same clothes all year so I'm not sure how to answer that. I am also so low maintenance, and have struggled the last year with my body changing that shopping for clothes hasn't been fun...I'm all about comfort. Is there anything I need to add to my wardrobe? I could probably use some new shirts that I can wear to work that aren't graphic tees, and maybe some pants. I saw some cute dresses at Walmart I might go try on. I'm helping my daughter at a wedding with her coffee cart in a few weeks and they would be perfect for it. If you're in the southern hemisphere, then answer for fall?
6. Insert your own random thought here. I am beyond tired. I had to wake up Tuesday morning at 3:15 to take my daughter to the airport, came home and there wasn't enough time to really go back to sleep before I had to be up for the day. I do okay, but hit a wall around noon. I had the grandkids so no nap, which means an early bedtime for me. Actually I probably ended up going to bed at my normal time.
I leave Friday for Calgary to meet my daughter and her friend who are there now. I'll be there til Tuesday the 10th and then we'll all come home. We'll be staying in Canmore and going to Banff as well. I'm looking forward to it, though it'll be another early morning Friday...uggh! I'll try and pack on Wednesday. I'll also get my hubby's lunches prepped for the days I'm gone and a soup made for him to eat.
I've also solidified some dates on the calendar that we will be going on some trips. Mostly short ones, but a few longer ones. I'm looking forward to it.

I've never been to Canada but would love to visit Banff, along with a few other spots!! I don't eat sweets anymore, but I just jumped over and looked at the peanut butter pound cake recipe - oh my goodness!! That recipe sounds like it would be amazing!!
ReplyDeleteSorry you were feeling down on the dumps. I hope you are feeling better now.
ReplyDeleteI love your answer to #2 and the sound of the peanut butter pound cake!
Eek to the early wake up on Tuesday. Have a great time with your daughter and her friend.
Oh your PB pound cake sounds delicious! I hope you have a fabulous time in Banff. The photos I've seen of the area look incredible.
ReplyDeleteThose eagles photos are fantastic! We see eagles on the lake, but herons and osprey are much more common. It's a treat to see an eagle. The first three weeks of March are crazy, with some fun things, but other stuff too and I am working at taking one day at a time. I'll have fourteen people here this weekend, including the five grands, and it's suppposed to rain all weekend. AAAACK! It will be fine, but getting outside would be so much nicer. I've never had a pb pound cake. Today is my son-in-law's birthday and my daughter usually makes him a pb pie. I'll have to tell her about the pound cake. Sounds delicious. Enjoy your travels and I hope there's some rest as you go.
