Tuesday Four....We've Got Questions
We've Got Questions
Here are some questions for you.....
1. Where did your mother and father grow up? Both of my parents were born and raised in Northern Ohio. A few years ago when I visited my aunts they took me back to the town and we drove around looking at everyone's old houses (no one lives there anymore) and places we used to visit when we were little. I try to go back and visit once a year to spend time with my aunts and uncle. With both my parents gone, that connection is important to me.
2. Where did you grow up? I lived in the same town they grew up in until I was in 4th grade, and then we moved to Washington State where I have lived ever since. I grew up in a small town along I-90 in the Snoqualmie Valley. After going to Bible College in Portland, meeting and marrying my husband, I've lived in the SW region of the state longer than the town I grew up in...33 years. A few years ago I wondered as to what constitutes a "hometown"....is it where you grew up or where you lived the longest? What are your thoughts.
3. What was your favorite meal your mother made? These both will sound weird, but I loved them. She used to make gizzards and rice and I loved eating it with butter and soy sauce. She also made really good liver and onions. She was a good cook so I'm sure I loved everything she made, but those two stand out. She also made a yummy taco pie and a chicken and broccoli creamy casserole. What is your favorite recipe to make? I like to make a lot of things, I'd say thai peanut noodles, lasagna, clam chowder are favorites. I often make taco soup because it's an easy dump recipe.
4. What are the advantages you enjoy where you live? The climate is mild, though can be VERY cloudy/rainy in the winter. The scenery is beautiful. I love the mountains, trees, rivers, lakes, waterfalls that are easily accessible. I live in a small town but it runs right along I-5 so quick access to bigger towns/cities. We are as little as 1 1/2 hours to either the Pacific Ocean or to the mountains to go skiing. We are close to Portland, Oregon and other favorite spots in Oregon...we spend enough time in both states we joke that we should be dual citizens. Not a fan of political climate of either state, but I love the beauty of where we live and don't foresee moving, and certainly not just because of one reason.

I totally understand about the political climate. I live in California. Trust me, I know! But its home and where my children are and I still love my state, warts and all. I've been to Snoqualmie falls - my husband was stationed in both Portland and then Banger Submarine base for both the Navy and Coast Guard. I used to love driving up to Portland for a weekend but not so much anymore. We do get up to Ashland or Medford (Eaglepoint) every couple of years.
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed your answers. God bless
I want to get to Ashland and MEdford. I have a friend who lives in Medford but it's a 4 hour drive from me and I haven't made the drive.
DeleteI would love to travel across the USA and see all of the states. Every state sounds beautiful. Love your answers! Have a nice week.

It would be so fun. I think every state has something beautiful to see.
DeleteFor me my hometown is where I grew up although I was only there 20 years. But home is where I am now and I've been here 50+ years. I enjoyed your post, enjoy your week.
ReplyDeleteYes, I agree...home is where I am now.
DeleteI enjoyed all your answers and didn't know or remember that you grew up in Ohio. It's great that you are able to go back and visit there every year. I wish I could go and visit the area where I grew up more often but there aren't too many people I can visit now. Hometown to me is where one has grown up, not where one has lived the longest. At least, that's how I've always understood it.
ReplyDeleteThat makes sense about where someone has grown up. Where I grew up there is no family except one aunt (she was married to my moms brother), but when I go up there to see friends, I always try and see her.
