Taking in Life Around Me.....Sunday Stills: Theme....10

This #sundaystills challenge is hosted by Terri from Second Wind LeisureIt's a great themed photography challenge that you'll enjoy. I love seeing the other participants interpretation of the theme each week...it causes me to think outside the box. I joined in hopes of it pushing me to get out and take more photos...I have to some degree, but I also like that Terri is okay with us finding photos in our archives, which is also a lot of fun. So check out my photos and then head over to Terri's page to participate or visit other's posts. There are some awesome contributors who always inspire me.

This weeks theme almost had me stumped until I went over to Terri's page to see what she did. As usual, she's a genius at helping us think through any unique prompts and after reading her thoughts, I came away inspired. I almost decided not to post because I just wasn't sure what to do. I still don't have it together, but at least I have something to go on.

I still wasn't sure what I was going to do, but decided to share 10 pictures I took recently with my new to me (bought it used from mpb.com) Sigma 150-600mm lens. It's a beast and I need to keep practicing with it. Thankfully our weather has been nice and I'm going to try hitting our wildlife refuge again this week. These were from last week. I took our grandkids down to the Ridgefield Wildlife Refuge. There weren't as many birds or other animals out like I'd hoped, and the ones we did see, weren't very active. I did edit these a bit so not SOOC, but I always try to edit fairly close to how I saw it with my own eyes.

I absolutely love the red winged blackbird and especially their song. How cool would this photo have been if I got his "breath" in the photo...maybe next time.

We sat watching this guy for quite awhile hoping he'd do some hunting, but nope, he just stood there.

There was an abundance of Canadian Geese and Tundra Swans.

And an array of duck species.

I spotted one bald eagle within "shooting" distance. He was across the bridge in a tree...I'm pretty excited to take my camera out more often.

With Joy Unquenchable,
Kirstin

Wow, such great pics with the new lens, Kirstin! They look clear and sharp on a dull gray day! Love the eagle, of course. Fabulous capture of the red-winged blackbird!
