Taking in Life Around Me.....Sunday Stills
This #sundaystills challenge is hosted by Terri from Second Wind Leisure. It's a great themed photography challenge that you'll enjoy. I love seeing the other participants interpretation of the theme each week...it causes me to think outside the box. I joined in hopes of it pushing me to get out and take more photos...I have to some degree, but I also like that Terri is okay with us finding photos in our archives, which is also a lot of fun. So check out my photos and then head over to Terri's page to participate or visit other's posts. There are some awesome contributors who always inspire me.
This weeks challenge is our monthly color challenge and the color is black, black and white or a version of these colors. While on vacation, I was sure to keep my eyes open and I did find some things that fit perfectly, and I took some liberty in changing a few photos.
While riding the train from Durango to Silverton, I spotted this old white house as we chugged through the national forest. Wish I knew a story behind it.
When we drove through Colorado Springs one evening a storm hit and boy was it a doozy. The skies were so crazy looking. I decided to have a bit of fun with it below.
I decided this photo of my daughter and I on a hike a few months ago looked better in B & W. Isn't it fun when a photo looks better with a different edit?
Something else I look for on trips are great coffee shops. The above shop had an already b/w logo so it's perfect. The one below I changed. They both had great vibes.
Another coffee shop I loved, and their logo stamped on their cups in b/w.
Aspens are in abundance in Colorado and this fence made from aspen trunks (which are black and white) caught my eye.
I shared a few photos last week from this museum and I have a few more to share for this weeks theme. A white texaco pump and a few cool trains.
I missed the "windows" week so I took this cool window I saw and turned the photo into b/w for this weeks theme. You do whatever it takes right?
Spotted these hot air balloons on the way to a destination just outside of Denver. I decided to turn them into a b/w.
Magpies were everywhere in Colorado. Their natural black and white colors and long tails were beautiful.
The white mountain peaks and plane engine alerting us to our arrival in Colorado. Such a beautiful time.

You really have a variety of stunning shots, Kirstin! Looks like you had a great trip in Colorado. So many cool things, but i love the big K in the coffee shop and the Aspen fence. All great pics!
ReplyDeleteYour train pictures inspire me, Kirstin. I love the path picture with the wooden railings, too. The rocks at Steamboat springs were stunning as well. We used to live in Colorado Springs, but I don't have any pictures like that one! Beautiful choices!
