Taking in Life Around Me.....#SundayStills Theme: Color Challenge, Red, White and Blue
This #sundaystills challenge is hosted by Terri from Second Wind Leisure. It's a great themed photography challenge that you'll enjoy. I love seeing the other participants interpretation of the theme each week...it causes me to think outside the box. I joined in hopes of it pushing me to get out and take more photos...I have to some degree, but I also like that Terri is okay with us finding photos in our archives, which is also a lot of fun. So check out my photos and then head over to Terri's page to participate or visit other's posts. There are some awesome contributors who always inspire me.
This weeks challenge is our color challenge and we get three colors...can you guess? Red, White and Blue (either together or separate).
Usually this plant is in the house...it does okay, but it NEVER blooms. As soon as the temps warm up I put it on my porch and it loves it, I even get blooms. This year I'm getting a few.
My new planting area at the side of our house is doing well and I'm getting some fun blooms. White dahlias and below some red gladioli...So pretty, but next year I need to stake them.
My hanging baskets are also doing amazing. The basket with these white petunias is huge.
My blueberries are in abundance and I couldn't be happier. I've already gotten 6 gallon size bags. My goal is usually 10-12.

I purchased this plant awhile back and was pleased to see that it is called a cardinal flower...I love cardinals, even though we don't have them here in the PNW.
In May I replanted some strawberries my daughter had, and they are actually producing. Not much, and the berries are small, but they are sweet.
During our towns celebration weekend, my husbands company partnered with the local fire department to do a demo of a house fire with and without sprinklers and the importance of at least having working smoke alarms (since not every home is going to be equipped with sprinklers). They said that the types of material the products are made from are highly flammable, and the popularity of open layouts in homes, makes it easy for fires to spread quickly before the fire department can even get there.
I remember going here when I was young and we'd visit Kelley's Island. My great aunt and her son worked here. I've gone a few times when I've been back. I always get the walleye bites or perch.
On a recent walk around Lake Sacajawea I spotted several red rhododendron. I loved how the above one was framed in the window.
Hubby and I dressed up for his conference theme night (Kentucky Derby). I borrowed this red dress from a friend and his shirt is blue checked.
I spotted this wall in a spot in Florida and I thought it was so cool. Blue shutters, red brick, kind of white wall.
We saw these in a gallery in Florida, they are original drawings from Dr. Seuss. They were pretty cool.

Wonderful set of colors for the challenge, Kirstin. Love your dahlias and red gladiolus! That's a crazy amount of blueberries! Looks like you're having a great summer!
