Taking in Life Around Me....Sunday Stills: Patriotic

This #sundaystills challenge is hosted by Terri from Second Wind LeisureIt's a great themed photography challenge that you'll enjoy. I love seeing the other participants interpretation of the theme each week...it causes me to think outside the box. I joined in hopes of it pushing me to get out and take more photos...I have to some degree, but I also like that Terri is okay with us finding photos in our archives, which is also a lot of fun. So check out my photos and then head over to Terri's page to participate or visit other's posts. There are some awesome contributors who always inspire me

This weeks theme is all about being patriotic....here in the states, we're going to be celebrating the 4th of July this week, but there are also other holidays or occasions where the flag is flown and we're reminded of the freedoms we have and the country we live in.

I know feelings are mixed right now but I love living in America.

I'll also apologize as I didn't get around to commenting last week...I'll try to do better this week and even get back to check out many of your sunsets. I had a feeling it might be trickier than usual with the grandkids living up here...I'm easily distracted. Instead of squirrels I have two cute grandkiddos!

I snapped this photo above and below at the fireworks stand the youth group my daughter helps lead is doing. We actually ran this for about 15+ years and our girls were a part of it from the time they were born (usually with me running errands). It was a great time. So many memories.

One of the gals who works at the post office in our town and literally lives next door to it, has this huge rooster in her yard. I LOVE it and just had to take a picture the other day. I sent her a text telling her I did so because I know she has cameras and didn't want her to think I was some creepy person She laughed.

This is also outside one of the buildings in town. I thought he was kind of fun.

It's supposed to be hot this week so I'm kind of wishing that shirt came as a tank top but I plan to wear it to work on Thursday. I actually read something yesterday about certain demographics of people being less patriotic, while others were feeling more patriotic and I kind of laughed to myself because, of course, when people are so stuck on sides, and refuse to budge in any direction, depending on who's in office will dictate how they "feel". I don't think I've ever been that way. Politics change constantly, politicians really don't care about me personally, only their agenda and who they'll get the most votes from...so I'm going to be patriotic or love my country no matter what because I can always find those doing and being good people. Anyways, didn't mean to go off like that. I just get kind of tired of it all. Let's carry on.

Terri had some fun editing a few of her photos and I decided to do the same because on their own, these were fine, but they were more fun when I had some creative, artistic fun. I used Brushstroke to edit these. The top one was off my aunts deck on Kelleys Island. Across the road is the lake.

In Longview, Washington the streets are often lined with flags in a particular neighborhood area around the lake and I just love it.

This one was in Ybor City, Florida and I thought it was a fun edit...

Not United States Flag, but how fun is this chair in the colors of the Italian flag outside an Italian market on Anna Maria Island. My moms side of the family is Italian.

Outside a restaurant we enjoyed in Ashford, outside the Mt. Rainier N.P.

One of the larger homes on Kelleys Island. It isn't occupied but I think is owned by the historical museum.

As I was going through pictures, I spotted a sliver of a flag in the top of this photo so thought I'd share..it was outside an antique store.

A few years ago when the whole family went to Kelley's Island we stayed in this house and it of course had a flag. Such a fun time. Would love for us all to go again.

In downtown Vancouver, Washington there is a large memorial wall that honors soldiers from many of the wars. It's stunning.

Lots of gorgeous flags here, Kirstin! 🇺🇸 I love your brush strokes edits, too! I'm glad you included the chair colored in Italy's flag. I would have liked to see any international flags from your travels. Happy Independence Day on Friday!
