Weekend Coffee Share......Come Sit with Me
It's another week of Weekend Coffee Share. I always love everyone's posts. Are you like me and try to visit everyone? It doesn't always happen but I try. I have loved getting to know different bloggers and I figure if they take the time to write a post, I'll find the time to visit, even if it's a week later. I truly enjoy what you all share and I often learn so much.
Check out all the other posts on Weekend Coffee Share, hosted by Natalie the Explorer. I'm off to go visit some now. #weekendcoffeeshare.
If we were having coffee we'd probably talk about:
The Weather: I think we're getting ready to move into a dryer spell, and it looks like temps could jump into the 80's on some days. 70's are my happy place, but I'll take whatever we get.
What we're thinking about: Right now I'm thinking about meals for next week. I feel like I'm hitting a wall with meal ideas. I'm thinking about putting together my to do list for the next few days. I'm actually off until next Thursday since Monday is Memorial Day and I don't work, and I already am off Tuesdays and Wednesdays. I'm thinking about friends who found out the husband may have had some cancer return.
What we're thankful for: I'm thankful for this season of having our grandkids, oldest daughter and son in law living up on our property...you never know what the future holds, how long we'll all live close together...we'll now all be in the same town and I want to treasure the moments. This morning I looked out our back door to see our grandson, carrying his sister across the grass (he's 6 1/2, she's 4) because she was barefoot...lol. They were coming in so I could make them waffles and their mom and dad went to the gym to workout. Will this be a busy season, and even a season of setting some boundaries to time? Sure, but you know what else? It will be a season of them coming for waffles, running over for snacks, taking a bath in my tub, and all the other things. I will treasure it.

Around the house: Our daughter, son in law and grandkids are officially up on our property (I think I mentioned this) in a trailer. The kids think it's the best thing. We purchased a shed from Costco so need to set that up this weekend. My plants are doing well and I don't have plans to to get anymore quite yet (we'll see though). I do have plans this weekend to get some weeding done. I did tweak my back so I guess it will depend on how it's feeling.
I took this photo while I was sitting in our cold plunge tub....do you see the hummingbird in the background?
For the love of food: I didn't do anything new or special this week. I did make some burgers with a combo of ground turkey and ground bison that turned out really good. It's currently Friday and that's typically when I sit down to make my menu for the following week. We are having a friend over for burgers tonight (Friday).
What we're reading or wanting to read: I quickly finished (meaning I skimmed through and jumped around) my passalong book club book We Solve Murders because I forgot about the holiday weekend and I need to get it in the mail. It was a bit of a hard one for me to read. The style of writing is not what I'm used to. I'm over halfway done with Clover Covered Corpse and am enjoying it. I've added a few new books to the TBR list. I need to hit my own bookshelf though and knock out a few of those.
What we're listening to or watching: I'm just about halfway through the audiobook version of Educated by Tara Westover. One thing I tend to do when reading memoirs is to google certain people or scenarios I read about in the books, or about the author themselves. It's interesting how several accounts say that there is only minimal amounts of truth to her retelling of her life. With some saying she falsely portrays her family. Hmmm..I also saw that her mom wrote a book called "Educating". That could be interesting. I haven't watched any shows or movies, though I have a few that I want to watch.
Favorite quote: This book exerpt popped up on a memory I shared a few years ago. I thought it was really good.

It is such a great reminder. I listened to the book I Guess I Haven't Learned That Yet by Shauna Niequist. Revisiting this quote makes me want to re-read it.
Favorite photo(s): A few fun photos and maybe you can help us with the first three. Pepper found this in our driveway and she said "Nonni, I think it's a dinosaur tooth". It was so cute. She said maybe when I was sleeping it lost it. Anyways. It really does look like a tooth. Any experts out there want to tell us their thoughts on what it is?
I think I mentioned it last week that my oldest daughter and her family are going to live up on our property for several months. I'm sure it won't be all flowers and rainbows....haha, but we are loving having them up. The kids love having the whole property to play. The other day they each made maps and we went on an adventure to follow them. I'll tell you what...I'm definitely getting my steps.
Random or not so random things: It is Memorial Day weekend for those in the states, though we don't usually go anywhere. We do not enjoy dealing with traffic and crowds of people. However, my husband did say maybe we'd go do something on Monday. Not sure what. Our plans are to stick around here and get some things done. It's Saturday afternoon. I did some weeding but still have more to do. Good thing I'm off for a few days and the weather will be nice. I'm determined to get it tackled.
Today I'll hit 270 day streak of Duolingo. I feel like I should be further ahead, but I'm enjoying it and I certainly recognize and understand more than I did before.
Well, off to do some reading, also to read some blog posts and get some commenting in, AND maybe start a post on our trip to Florida.

So nice that your grandkids have the whole property to play and they've been part of your day as they grow up. Thank you for your weekend coffee share.
ReplyDeleteit is very nice having them here!
DeleteHope you enjoy these days with the family - and grandkids - living close by!! So nice that everyone is loving it!
ReplyDeleteI listened to We Solve Murders and while I enjoyed it I did feel a bit lost on the details from time to time and struggled to keep all the characters and their aliases straight. How lovely to have the grandkids living so close. We're enjoying the reverse; my parents are living in a trailer on our property (just for the summer) while they visit up north before they head back to North Carolina for the fall, winter, & spring.
