Combining two link parties in One...Tuesday Four and Wednesday Hodgepodge

This week I'm combining Tuesday 4 hosted by Anne from Cottage by the sea, and Wednesday Hodgepodge with Joyce, who blogs at From This Side of The Pond.  Both of these gals ask a series of questions on a topic or idea and we take time to answer. I love it because it's a sort of journal for me that maybe someday I'll print for family to read or maybe they'll take time to visit my blog. This week I decided to combine them into one post. 

First up, since it's Tuesday.....Tuesday Four: Foodie Questions

1. what was your favorite suppertime meal when you were a kid or a teen? Oh boy. I do not remember. I think I liked almost everything my mom made. She made a great tostada pie and yes, unlike many, I really liked liver and onions.  How about fav breakfast and lunch while you're at it. I always liked mac and cheese and a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. I think I mostly ate cereal or english muffins for breakfast. 

2. How about now? What is your favorite dinnertime meal? I'm not one that really has a favorite meal. I LOVE trying new recipes and finding new things to make, however, I do love a good soup (we have a creamy tomato, sausage and tortellini soup that we all like), and I make a Thai chicken peanut dish that is a favorite. And for breakfast and lunchtime? Breakfast is often a smoothie or maybe an egg. I'm not a huge breakfast eater. If my grandkids are here I'll make waffles and I'll have one. For lunch I often eat leftovers. 

3. How has your taste in food changed over the years. I've never been a picky eater. I am more intentional now and try to watch ingredients and cook foods that are healthier or at least use better ingredients. I enjoy good food, mostly avoid fast food, processed food, etc. I enjoy cooking at home and we don't eat out much. However, when we go on vacation I don't mind eating out more than cooking in (we usually rent airbnb's). 

4.  What's for supper at your house tonight? Tonight I'm making a crustless taco pie. It'll be a good source of protein and not much in the way of carbs. I'll have some toppings for it. I've never made it so we'll see how it is. 

1. Did you watch the Super Bowl? I suppose you can say I "watched" it. Haha. I was in the room while it was on, but I was working on a puzzle with my MIL and a friend and then some of us played cards while it was going. Did your team win? Yes, though my reason for picking the Eagles was because my grandson said he wanted the Chiefs to win...AND I always root for the team that isn't necessarily favored to win. Unless the Seahawks are in it, and then I'll always want them to win. What's your favorite game day snack for  whatever sport is happening? Well, football is the only sport we really "make specific" food for...usually dips, I made wings, etc. If we're just watching soccer or basketball games on TV, we'll just eat popcorn. Oh, but my hubby will often host guys up to watch the fights on TV and I'll usually put together wings or he'll order pizza.  

2. What's your 'superpower'?  I had to sleep on this one, and being able to sleep all night without waking up is NOT a super power I possess. Gee, why does it seem easier to think of things that are NOT my super power? But what I think are super powers, I don't really know. I'm going to go with my ability to go with the flow and not get easily worked up about things. It takes a lot to get me rattled. Maybe also my ability to be pretty "low maintenance". 

3. Will you do anything special on Valentine's Day? Well! We have reservations for dinner on Saturday night so the plan was to just be home on Friday night. My youngest daughter who is 25 but still lives at home is hosting a bunch of her single gal friends and we had planned to just stay home. However, I just found out I won a giveaway from one of our local businesses for a dinner reservation on the 14th, so I'm thinking that's what we'll be doing if it works out. If so do share. Any thoughts on/about this particular holiday? Personally I prefer to not go out on these types of holidays because they're just SO BUSY! I don't think Valentines Day has ever been a largely celebrated holiday by us. Not sure why. Share a favorite verse or quote relating to love. I love this translation of 1 Corinthians 13 from The Mirror Translation! 

"Love is not about defending a point of view; even if I am prepared to give away everything I Have and die a martyr's death; love does not have to prove itself by acts of supreme devotion or self sacrifice.

4. Are you a fan of the rom-com genre? I do like some. If they're good and for the most part clean If so what's one of your favorites? I liked the movie Find Me Falling, 27 Dresses, Princess Diaries, Father of the Bride, The Proposal was funny and I'm not sure if considered Rom Com but Ever After and The Princess Bride are faves.  If you're not a movie go-er then what about a book you love that features a great love story? I also like romantic books, again, as long as they're pretty clean. A favorite? I'm not don't think I have a favorite. How about a favorite love song? How can I choose. I really am not always good at these things. I don't really have a favorite. I like a lot of them and it just depends on my mood. 

5. Let's get creative...write an acrostic using the word L-O-V-E.

And here we are almost 32 years later! 

6. Insert your own random thought here. Monday on the way to work I stopped at a friends house to drop something off. As I got out of the car, somehow (don't ask me how), I shut the top part of my thumb in the car door. The door shut all the way. Thankfully I didn't get the knuckle but just the thumb nail part of it. It's bruised and hurts if I apply pressure but it certainly could've been worse. 

This Thursday we are having an inspection done on our house and would appreciate any prayers you want to throw out there for a good outcome. 

I am now a full week without doing any virtual assisting. I'm still working at finding a new groove with my time, but I am liking having the freedom.
