Weekend Coffee Share....Come Sit with Me
It's another week of Weekend Coffee Share. I always love everyone's posts. Are you like me and try to visit everyone? It doesn't always happen but I try. I have loved getting to know different bloggers and I figure if they take the time to write a post, I'll find the time to visit, even if it's a week later. I truly enjoy what you all share and I often learn so much.
Check out all the other posts on Weekend Coffee Share, hosted by Natalie the Explorer. I'm off to go visit some now. #weekendcoffeeshare.
If we were having coffee we'd probably talk about:
The Weather: We are set to have several dry days and I'm really looking forward to that. I did get the car washed (I figured I better do it while it's not raining). Then I left to go to town the next morning and construction trucks must've dropped a bunch of dirt out of the back of a dump truck and the road was a mess, which then made my car a mess....not a happy camper.
What we're thinking about: I've been picking and choosing when and what I post even though I want to post to all the link parties I enjoy so much. It just seems to be a season where this is harder for me, and I need to prioritize things. It makes me sad, but at the same time, it's not like I get paid for this, have a massive following, etc. It's a hobby, something I do for fun and connection. I know I've mentioned before that I get blogging FOMO. I just need to get over it. Those who do come to read, will come when I post so I shouldn't worry. Right? I'm thankful for those of you that do comment. I've learned so much about other bloggers, other places, so much!
What we're thankful for: I'm thankful for health. On Tuesday morning I tweaked my lower back and it has been very uncomfortable. There are times it feels fine and times it just really tightens up on me and spasms a little. Of course the chiropractor wasn't open due to holiday and I didn't get there on Wednesday. My hubby and I were talking as we drove somewhere because he has a tweaked shoulder and I was saying how when I have these issues that linger, it's exhausting because 1) you're trying to compensate, and 2) you're not used to it. I was telling him how I always envision what people with chronic pain on a daily basis feel like. I'm hoping that soon my back is feeling normal again.
Around the house: I think I am just about done with decorating. I want to do a few more things outside but I think I'm mostly done. I was hoping to finish earlier in the week but my back kind of messed that idea up.
Hubby and I put up Christmas lights. I'm happy to announce that we didn't kill each other and no one fell off a ladder! Phew.
For the love of food: In the states we had Thanksgiving last Thursday. We always go to my in-laws and she makes the main meal. It's always good, but it's interesting as she ages (and it may be the same for me), some things she makes just doesn't quite taste the same. But all still good and I'm so thankful she loves to host etc. I made homemade sourdough rolls, my veggie dip and two sweet potato casseroles. One savory and one sweet but no marshmallows. Everyone seemed to like them. I normally make green bean casserole but she wanted to make it this year. Other than that, I didn't make anything different and we didn't go out to eat either.
What we're reading or wanting to read: I managed to get 6 books read in November, I was hoping to finish one more but didn't get it done. 5 of them were cozy mysteries and one was the finished audiobook. I have a new cozy going and one more I need to start since I got it from the library. I'm trying to find some seasonal ones. I also need to go through my TBR list and give some ideas for my hubby. I don't usually buy fiction books because I'm unlikely to read them again, but non-fiction I like to keep so I can highlight, underline, go back to etc..
What we're watching or listening to: I just haven't watched much. Just not much time to sit and watch though I'm looking forward to some Christmas movies. I may put one on while I try to finish decorating. I have listened to some podcasts and I finally finished the book by Bono. I started one by Peter Enns called The Bible Tells Me so. It's been interesting. I'm about halfway done with it. I really like to listen and read books that make me think, that give me some good food for thought and might even challenge what I've always believed about anything really.
Favorite quote: Actually in one of the books I'm reading by Jo Tracey (Christmas at Fountains Hall), I loved this quote..."Don't listen to anyone who makes you doubt yourself. There are always going to be people in your life who want to keep you in the box they've labelled with your name. They'll tell you they're happy for you, proud of what you're doing. They might even pretend to be supportive, but make no mistake, stepping away from that box alters their world."
I found myself going "wow, that is really good, and really true". Thanks Jo!

I always buy myself a new ornament each year. This year I found a pineapple on sale at Fred Meyers. Since they symbolize hospitality and welcome (among other things), and I love having people in our home I felt it was fitting.
Random or not so random things: I'm finishing this post on Sunday morning and it's hard to believe we're in December. It is our busy season at work and I'll pick up some extra hours. I'm thankful for the ladies I work with, that we can make it a fun environment even in the. midst of the busyness.
My birthday is this month, on the 9th. I'll be 56. I'm glad I can see it as just a number, though sometimes my body would see it that way..haha. I don't think we have anything planned. My oldest will be in Texas, my hubby has a work retreat and I work that day, so I think it will just be a mellow time. The following weekend we are going to the beach so that will kind of be a sort of celebration.
I started a new puzzle. I've done a few smaller ones the last few months, mainly because I was wanting to do something seasonal and raided my MIL's closet. I have a winter one to do next.
I'm helping my oldest daughter with a few events for her coffee cart, which is always enjoyable. It's a great to spend some extra time with her.
I also have my setup of snacks for our delivery drivers that come to our house.
I've had a few annoying things with my macbook and I probably just need to go to the Apple store and have them troubleshoot. I don't know anyone personally who could come dink around with it. Though they'll probably look at me and say "lady you need to organize and clean up this thing"..haha.
I thought I had something else to share, but now I can't remember so I'll end this here. I need to get some things done and writing posts always takes me awhile.
Kirstin
