Wednesday Hodgepodge

It's time for Wednesday Hodgepodge with Joyce, who blogs at From This Side of The Pond.  Each week she'll pose some questions for us to answer. What a great way to journal life.

Darn...I forgot to get around to commenting last week. I'm sorry. I'll try to go and at least respond to those who commented on my post. Uggh.

1. What's the best $5 gift to give someone? Hmm...candle, magazine (I love magazines), warm fuzzy socks.

2. What's your favorite way to relax/unwind during the busy holiday season? Always a bath. But also listening to Christmas music, watching Christmas movies, reading. Baking. I like turning on the all the Christmas and mood lights in the house. It helps set the tone. Even the gas fireplace, though usually that means I have to go put on shorts and a tank top because I'm so hot.

3. How do you feel about gingerbread? Love it or no thanks? I like it, but it also isn't the first thing I grab. I can take it or leave it. Are gingerbread houses a part of your holiday tradition? Yes and no...We don't always do them, but if grandkids want to I will. If you said yes, how does that look? My grandson just mentioned the other day that he wants to do a gingerbread house, so we'll probably get a few. Do you like ginger flavor in other kinds of dishes? Sometimes. It's not my favorite flavor.

4. December 5th is National Blue Jeans Day...will you be celebrating? Well, since I work, yes, I'll probably wear jeans. Do you have a favorite brand? I don't have a favorite brand...usually it's whatever I can find that fits good and is comfortable.  A favorite pair?  several years ago I bought a pair of jeans from one of my daughters friends...I LOVED them...when they started getting too worn in the inner leg area I searched all over for another pair and finally found a pair on poshmark. I was so excited. Do you have a hard time parting with a favorite pair of jeans? I basically wear clothes until they die. I always kick myself when I find something I really like. I should know to always buy two pair. Blue jeans-joggers-leggings-yoga pants...which one do you wear most often? I joke that I'm in my comfortable era...so I don't want things that constrict me anywhere. So I do love joggers, and leggings most, but if I have a comfy pair of jeans I'll wear those going out.

5. As we head into this holiday season what's your biggest priority or goal for the end of the year? I don't know that I have one. I know I don't want to become overwhelmed with things so trying to keep things simple. I want to get back on track with a few things that have taken a back burner. I want to create a photo book from this past year and then work at creating some photo books from years past. We used to do this every year, and then got out of it.

6. Insert your own random thought here. Wednesday got away from me. I had intended to answer these questions this morning but didn't get to it, then had to work. Wednesdays are normally a day off but it's our busy season so it's kind of all hands on deck. Sometimes only a few hours but it's helpful.

I have Christmas cards I need to start filling out. I figure if I do a handful a day, I should be able to get them out in reasonable time.

Last week I tweaked my back doing an exercise which annoyed me since I'm trying to get back on track. I knew better too. I did go to the Chiropractor but it's taking time and that bugs me too.

I'm trying to decide if I want to do any Christmas baking and if so what. I think I'll keep it very simple. Maybe find one or two things the kids can make with me.

With Joy Unquenchable,
Kirstin

  1. Yes, fuzzy socks are a great idea! I know everyone probably has a lot of pairs but if you only had 5 bucks, that's a good gift.

  2. I hope you back heals quickly. I have to be more careful too. I am with you on the comfy of jeans and clothes in general. I am sure the grands will like the gingerbread house. I bake once a year just for the grands. A heating pad does wonders for the aching back!
