Putting Fingers to Keyboard....#WQ Theme: Relaxing

It's another week of  Wednesday Quotes, hosted by Marsha from Always Write. If you're interested in joining, you can find more about #WQ here.

This weeks theme is "relaxing". Definitions of relax include: to make or become less tense or make less strict while not abolishing it.To be calm or comfortable.

There are so many ways people find to relax. Meditating, walking, reading, taking a bath, exercise (though I don't know if that relaxes me), stretching, writing, listening to music, hiking, being in nature, strolling down a street, browsing a bookstore, gardening, watering flowers, sitting in a coffee shop, getting a massage (though they are usually painful to me). I love a road trip, taking scenic routes, not being in a hurry. The list can go on and on and it's so personalized.

I just read Marshas post and she actually said sitting in the dentist chair was relaxing...I guess I can still be her friend, but the dentist and it's chairs makes me anxious. I love my dentists, but not having my teeth worked on. Yikes. Proof that what is relaxing to one person isn't to someone else. No matter what, we HAVE to find time to relax! Our theme for #sundaystills was the color blue, which can be considered a relaxing color. I would agree..even a bright blue can feel relaxing. Here's my post from last Sunday.

Working on puzzles relaxes me. It helps to calm my mind. I try to leave one out and always going...I'll pause now and then to put a few pieces in. When we were on a recent getaway, I bought two smaller puzzles and worked on them during our stay.

That place will differ for each of us...it can be a destination or a spot in your home..a bookstore or thrift/antique store works for me..as does areas in my home. But also local day trips can relax me as well.

Reading relaxes me! Along with a nice cup of something hot! I enjoy our new part of the house with it's coziness.

Though water can actually stress me out a bit, I find if my husband doesn't do anything like "rock the boat", I find floating on the water or kayaking relaxing. I would say that when we go on local trips to the beach or Sunriver, Oregon and most recently Anderson Island, those are some of the most relaxing times because we don't have an agenda!

Being in nature relaxes me...walking on trails, taking time to pause for photos or just to observe. Listening to the sounds of birds. Recently I've been taking walks on our road almost every morning or evening. While it's the same road, same scenery, the calmness and sounds of the birds relaxes me.

Being near water always relaxes me, especially when I can hear it.

With Joy Unquenchable,
Kirstin

  1. Wow, I love your water pictures, Kirstin. Your walking spot is so beautiful. I love water and trees when I'm walking. I love the beach, but a pathway through trees can't be beat except where there's a lake nearby - like your gorgeous picture. Sorry you don't enjoy relaxing at the dentist, though. I kind of threw that one in there to be funny because of the movie and the Nitrous Oxide. It's good to remember not to take things too personally. I think I've gotten better at that with age, but it's a troublesome one. Great post. Thanks always for sharing. :)

    1. THank you Marsha! I don't think I've ever had nitrous oxide. I like the people in my dental office, just not having my teeth worked on haha.

  2. Oh yes, the sight and sound of water can be so relaxing! And watching birds. I miss sitting on my porch and watching the sunset while listening to the birds settling for the night and the frogs and crickets starting up. Perfect way to relax at the end of the day. Loved your photos - beautiful lake view!
