Putting Fingers to Keyboard....#WQ Theme: World Ocean Day/Water

It's another week of  Wednesday Quotes, hosted by Marsha from Always Write. If you're interested in joining, you can find more about #WQ here

I totally forgot about last week. This weeks theme is water since apparently it's world ocean day! A few weeks ago on our #sundaystills the theme was water water everywhere. I shared that post here. My quotes are more about water in general rather than specifically the ocean.

I love being near water, hearing water, relaxing by water, hiking to water. I'm not a huge fan of swimming.

We all know water is vital for survival, but when you live in an area that is blessed with abundant water, you yourself have plenty of good, clean water to drink and bathe in, it's easy to forget that for many, these things would be a luxury. Here in the PNW we rarely have a water shortage, rarely are asked to ration water and in winter and spring, we beg the rain to just stop! However, often if we're having a dry summer, we do start hoping for rain, because of wildfires..already we had a dry May and June has been dry too. We are so fickle.

If you love ocean photos, check out Out West Photography...he captures some amazing photos of the Oregon coast and especially fishing boats. I mean, they're incredible.

I am also thankful to also live within an hour and a half from the Pacific Ocean. The Oregon Coast is our favorite. I've traveled as far down as Tillamook but would love to travel further south. I've also had the privilege of visiting family in Florida and enjoying the Atlantic Ocean.

Some amazing high school classmates run a non profit thrift store to help build wells in other countries. Here is their website if you're interested. They started out by having a huge garage sale every summer for a few years and then started a thrift store. They have such big hearts. On their website, they say, AS OF April 1 2023 WE HAVE BEEN OPEN over 2 YEARS AND DONATED $288,000 to other nonprofits! Thank you, generous patrons! What an amazing thing, and they are the sweetest people.

The Oregon coast is absolutely stunning with it's high cliffs, lush landscape and beautiful waters.
I love observing the life that lives in the tide pools.

I like the thought behind this, but obviously our lives would not be very meaningful and I believe shorter lived without some kind of love. Maybe they're thinking about romantic love, which of course many do without but we need to have love in our lives.

Living on the west coast, you won't see these umbrellas and lounge chairs out, nor will you comfortably swim in the ocean!! Many of our beaches have really strong riptides and it's not recommended to go out in them.

This quote reminded me of the below photo. Last year we took a hike and discovered these holes and smoothness in the rock. The falls they are around is called potholes falls and these are called potholes. Hikespeak.com said this about the rocks:
Potholes are carved into rock all around the waterfall. These crevices in the bedrock resemble Native American grinding holes, but were formed naturally by fast moving water that carried hard rocks capable of grinding out the softer Troutdale Formation.

So fascinating! I love seeing how water affects the rocks and landscape it flows over and around.

Oh, what a beautiful visual of our lives don't you think?

More Oregon Coast. There is just something special about the ocean and visiting the beach.

This goes back to my thought at the beginning about taking water for granted.

With Joy Unquenchable,
Kirstin
