Wednesday Hodgepodge....Time!

It's time for Wednesday Hodgepodge with Joyce, who blogs at From This Side of The Pond.  Each week she'll pose some questions for us to answer. What a great way to journal life.

1. What's something you never seem to have enough time for? I'm sure there are many things, but one thing I really don't like having enough time for is going out and taking pictures and then having time to play with and edit them. My upcoming Sunday Stills challenge theme for next weekend is Urban and I'd love to get into the city to take pictures, but I just don't think I'll have time.

2. If you could turn back time and relive just one day in your life, which day would you choose and why? Boy, I'm not really sure. I think there are so many days I wouldn't mind reliving, maybe because something happened that day that made me think, "oh, I would've done this differently". However, I can't really pinpoint one specific day. I went back and read Joyce's post that she had linked for this question and I love how she wrote it. I think right now, I'd love to go back and relive any day when my mom, dad and grandma were still alive because I want to sit down and ask them so many questions. Ask them to tell me stories of growing up and important things they remembered or learned. To tell me about family history. Teach me how to do things they loved doing.

3. Something you enjoy making that takes a long time to prepare/cook? I really love making sourdough bread but it can be a time consuming process so I have to make sure I'm going to be home for a good amount of the day.

4. A time recently where you needed/gave yourself a 'time out'?  After my grandkids visited for 3 days (they're 3 1/2 and 1) I was exhausted. I didn't need a time out for a "bad attitude" but I sure needed a time out from "doing". How do you do that? On this particular day, after my daughter picked up the kids, I just needed quiet. I informed my family I was not making dinner, and I was doing nothing the rest of the day. I did just that. I didn't even do a lot of cleaning up til later in the afternoon. Other times when I feel I need a timeout...it's totally a bath for me, or go read in bed.

5. Something you've done recently that you'd describe as a 'good time'? Hmmm...My book club get together which was last Friday was a good time. I enjoy the times to get together and chat about life and our recent read. Also when I went to the Sip and Paint I did last month, that was really really a good time.

6. Insert your own random thought here. Well, the thoughts feel very random because I'm tired. Our 1 year old granddaughter spent the day and night here yesterday because her daddy and big brother had a stomach bug. My daughter was feeling fine but really didn't want Pepper to get it and she (my daughter) was so tired and had a headache. My youngest daughter went and got Pepper and spent the day with her til I got home at 6:00. It is so nice being close to family. When my girls were little our parents lived first across the country (hubby's parents), and then both sets lived 3 hours away so they weren't easily accessible to help in times like these. I'm thankful we are able to help out when needed and when we can. Now she's back home with her mommy, daddy and brother, and I'm back at a quiet house. I cleaned the kitchen, mopped the floors and sitting down to a mug of coffee and a little blogging and VA work.

With Joy Unquenchable,
Kirstin

  1. I love the idea of making sour dough but agree it is time consuming. My neighbor gave me starter but I felt a lot of pressure to keep up with it and after making a few loaves finally gave it up. Also, do I need to be making home made bread regularly? Ha. Probably not. Enjoy your day!

    1. I keep mine in the fridge and feed it once a week soo I don't feel quite as much pressure.

  2. That is so nice to be close enough to help out and get help from family. Homemade bread is really special. Our daughter in law just did a sip and paint and I watched our grands while she enjoyed that time. Hope your weekend is nice!

  3. Your grandkids are lucky to have you near by! My parents and in laws live far from us.
