Hospitality made Simple

Our church is full of young adults who've recently been married and are all now having babies! Lots of babies. We always arrange meals to be delivered to these amazing families and I just happened to be privileged to bring a meal to the most recent parents. I knew a few weeks ago that I'd be making a meal for them and I chose a Thursday because that is a good day for me. What I didn't choose was being sick when it was my turn to make a meal, and sick I was! I had already decided ahead of time that I was going to make a chicken potpie since they are yummy, easy and I wanted one too, so I actually had all the ingredients already on hand. This was our pot pie. I realized after I had theirs in the pie pan, that I only own ONE pie pan so what was I going to use? I scrounged around and found this ceramic, deep dish bowl and made it work! It turned out great.
To their basket I added a jar of "Apple Pie in a jar" for them to use at a later time.
Their pot pie ready to go!! Her hubby actually had to pass through our town on his way home so I met him off the freeway and he picked it up. It saved me having to drive it there while sick.
Can't forget the cookies. Remember my post says Hospitality made simple. These cookies are made with 1 c. sugar, 1 c. peanut butter and 1 egg! Can't get much simpler than that!
I think the key to keeping things simple especially when bringing meals to others is making it easy on yourself. I planned to make two of these so that we could enjoy one as well, thus really only making one meal. I stuck to a recipe I was very familiar with and it was inexpensive. I was able to choose a day that worked the best for me. I wouldn't even hesitate to bring a meal that I purchased elsewhere as long as I knew it was good!! Even though I had a nasty cold, this was so easy to put together that I didn't mind one bit! I also included the recipe for the new mom and her mother so they could enjoy it later. Even when hosting in your own home, it's so much more fun when the hostess is not stressed!! I'm hoping to post about Kat's birthday party in the next few days. I have a few recipes I used that I want to share, and it would go along with the hospitality thing, since I was still sick when she had her party! I know I could've canceled but I just didn't want to! Well, the battery is dying on my computer so I must shut down for tonight. Hopefully tomorrow or Wednesday I'll have something more to post.
With Joy UNquenchable,
