Taking in Life Around Me: #Sundaystills

This #sundaystills challenge is hosted by Terri from Second Wind Leisure. It's a great themed photography challenge that you'll enjoy. I love seeing the other participants interpretation of the theme each week...it causes me to think outside the box. I joined in hopes of it pushing me to get out and take more photos...I have to some degree, but I also like that Terri is okay with us finding photos in our archives, which is also a lot of fun. So check out my photos and then head over to Terri's page to participate or visit other's posts. There are some awesome contributors who always inspire me. 

This week is our animal of the month week, and Terri is challenging us with posting antlers, horns and hooves. I'm excited about this one. 

My dad was a taxidermist. This was a picture of him with "Clyde", a buffalo owned by a local man. He had to be put down and they asked my dad to mount the head. He was so heavy it pulled the paneling off our wall. 

While visiting the D &SNG Museum in Durango, they had an amazing display of antlers! 

If you get a chance to go to Colorado during elk rut season you should...what an amazing experience. 

I was driving down our road one day, and spotted these two guys in the field. We usually see does and their babies, rarely bucks once their antlers start coming in so this was a pleasant surprise. Deer are a regular site on our property. I sometimes have a love/hate relationship with them. I do love them, but they like my plants and that doesn't make me happy. 

So cute above....so annoying below. 

A herd of elk in Canada we spotted while driving and quickly pulled over.

Driving home from Leavenworth, Washington one year we spotted a bunch of cars on the side of the road and people staring off into the distance. We immediately pulled off also when we realized they were looking at a small herd of elk. I will ALWAYS try to stop when I see elk.

A visit to the Fort Worth Stockyards had us watching a group of longhorns on the cattle drive parade.

At a local library event, this pretty little pony came to visit. The grandkids thought she was so cute. 

Spotted in a local antique store...would you buy it?

I will never get tired of watching horses, especially in Sunriver, Oregon. 

These two lived next door to a lady I worked for and always came up to the fence when I mowed her lawn. The one with the piece of grass out of it's mouth cracked me up. What a hillbilly!
