Wednesday Hodgepodge
2. What was peaceful about today? I'm typing this on multiple days..I try to start it on Sunday, but sometimes don't finish until Tuesday night. So Sundays peaceful moment was walking out to check on my flowers and watching a deer in the yard. Often I just find peaceful moments in walking around my house watering, and enjoying the birds. Inside, it might be sitting and reading, or even baking something.
3. It's National Blueberry Day (July 8). Will you celebrate? Maybe I'll go out and try to pick some of my blueberries. I had to cover them with some netting because the birds were eating them like crazy even before they were ripe. We normally have a structure of pvc pipe and netting covering them You can have one of the following right now-a slice of blueberry pie, a warm blueberry muffin, or a stack of blueberry pancakes...which do you choose? Honestly, I'm not a fan of cooked blueberries but I'll say muffin. I like them either fresh or in a smoothie. I love a lemon blueberry smoothie.
When we were in the NE States I tried this Blueberry Soda...it was actually really good.
I will occasionally make blueberry muffins.
This or that-blueberries or raspberries? Raspberries. I wish I could grow them without the deer eating them. blueberries or strawberries? Strawberries...see, I'm not a HUGE blueberry fan.
4. Do you need a break? Oh, that's a tough one. Do I need a break from anything? Honestly I don't think so. I mean, we could joke and say, sure, I need a break from bills, or things sucking money, but clearly that's not reality. From what? I am going to say I'd love a break from this achilles tendonitis...I would love for it to go away. It's tiring and annoying.
5. What has surprised you most about getting older? Well, I have noticed in the last few years, more aches, pains, annoying things that have kept me from doing things as easily as before. Then there's menopause, and menopause weight gain. Wait! How did I lose all my muscle tone so fast. Uggh. I don't care so much about my silver hair, or more lines or wrinkles. It's things that keep me from the typical way of doing things. It's always crazy to think that my mom didn't get to live as long as I have. I'm 57, she passed away at 54. My grandmother lived til 90. I want to be able to live a vibrant, long life.
I'm glad my girls like to do things with me and even invite me on trips.6. Insert your own random thought here. Well, we definitely have a bat problem. Sadly they have taken up residence in one of our "attic" type spaces..it's not really an attic but a small crawl space. It is not a cheap solution...this is a great reminder to us of why we budget, save and have an emergency fund. It's also a reminder to do regular checks of those areas. Out of sight, out of mind is costing a pretty penny, and it may cost more in the future if we need to tear out some areas of insulation, etc.
In other news, and much more pleasant than bats, my hubby and have the next 4 work days off. We aren't going anywhere but staying and doing things locally. We are first meeting with a lawyer to talk about wills/trusts, etc. One of the days we are going to head up to Mt. St. Helens. Not sure about the other days. I may take time to do some shredding of over stuffed files. We are also celebrating our grandsons 8th birthday on Sunday the 12th.

I hear ya on the weight gain, not so much a higher number for me but a shift of fat to my middle. What the heck?! I recently began a more serious exercise routine, so I hope that helps…
