Wednesday Hodgepodge
I'll also add that I like my nicknames (well, all except what annoying classmates gave me). I go by Kiki, Kirstie, Kirst, Keek. My grandkids call me Nonni Kiki.
2. A piece of red velvet cake, a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a slice of blueberry pie? I'm going to go with red velvet cake though I'm not a fan of using red food dye, so I'd go with a natural red coloring. You can only have one...which will you choose? If you could pick any red, white, or blue dessert other than those listed here, what would you choose? I do love desserts. Strawberry shortcake would be a hit. This fruit pizza is also really good and can be adapted to a red, white and blue theme.
3. What's a job you'd like to try for just one day? Oh man! For just one day...I think for one day I'd like to see what it would be like to own a bookstore and coffee shop. I've always thought it would be something neat to own, and since I love books and coffee, it would be fitting.
4. Any patriotic decor in your home currently or coming up this summer? No, not really. I do have some patriotic shirts I enjoy wearing. One time I did put up a patriotic bunting in the house. Maybe I'll do that again.
5. It's the end of May, so let's exercise our brains. Sum up your month with an acrostic using the word MAY. We can do it!!
M ostly good. The best part was our family's Sunriver vacation.
A lmost summer. May is so wishy washy....weeks of sun, then rain, repeat!
Y oung animals arriving and yearning (I stole the word from Joyce) for summer to arrive.
6. Insert your own random thought here. I'm trying to hustle to get this post finished because they're going to be doing work on our internet (Comcast will be up here working in our area) so we'll have an outage today...good day to clean windows, go get my teeth cleaned and make some bread...all which are what I have planned.
I love mysteries, especially cozy type mysteries. I have been loving a couple of movie series...Ainsley McGregor (which sadly I watched one, and the others are on another paid channel...so bummed), Auroa Teagarden Mysteries and Garage Sale Mysteries. They've been fun to watch. I've also been enjoying the show Hope Valley 1874. It's a spin off of When Calls the Heart which I love as well.
If you haven't watched Remarkably Bright Creatures on Netflix, you should. I enjoyed it so much. Sally Fields is such a great actress. I read the book and I think it's been long enough that I didn't feel a need to compare since I couldn't remember everything I read, but the movie did bring it back to mind.

I would love to visit your bookstore and coffee shop!
ReplyDeleteI'd gladly have anyone at it if I had one.
DeleteWe watched Remarkably Bright Creatures and it had been quite a while since I'd read the book. I think the film stayed true to the story which I always appreciate. Lots of red velvet fans in the HP today. My younger daughter always asks for that for her birthday. I especially love the cream cheese icing.
ReplyDeleteI agree, it did stay true to it. and Yes, lots of cake eaters.
DeleteHow interesting to read about your name and your children's. I love that you stuck with the K theme.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you have a busy day planned and I loved Remarkably Bright Creatures! It was such a sweet movie!
It was really fun reading about everyone's names.
DeleteI’ve always liked the name Kirsten though I’ve not known any personally. I know a ton of Kristen’s, a band I also like. I like alliteration in family names. We almost went with J names for the girls due to our son’s name being Jacob. The name your grandkids call you is so cute!
ReplyDeleteThank you! If we had a boy we were going to call him Caleb but with a "K"
DeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteI read Remarkably Bright Creatures, but I do not have a Netflix account, so I probably will not watch the movie, it does sound like many were pleased with the movie.
I love your Y. :-) Sweet.
xo
Carla
The movie is great. Thank you
DeleteThere are so many spelling variations of your name, and I imagine it would get tiresome to have people mispronounce it too. It is such a pretty name though. I didn't know - or had forgotten - that your grandkids call you Nonni. My granddaughters call my Nonny and I don't know of any other grandmothers that use that name. :-)
ReplyDeleteI've put Remarkably Bright Creatures on our watch list since I loved the book so much (and I'm re-reading it now) and with all the positive comments I've seen about it I'm really looking forward to watching! Might have to wait until things settle down for me though!
Hope you're having a great week!
I haven't watched many moves after I read the book or before for that matter, but I was pleased with this one.
DeleteYes, my name was always mispronounced, mis spelled and I never found anything in gift shops with my name on it.
Your names are rather long and you can change them into nicknames, that's exactly what we wanted to avoid. A girl we would have named Tara.
ReplyDeleteWe always called our girls by their first names and intentionally didn't do nicknames at least around others but it didn't work, people or the girls shortened their names.
DeleteI enjoyed reading your answers. Thank you for stopping over. I don't have your email to respond back to you.
