Wednesday Hodgepodge

It's time for Wednesday Hodgepodge with Joyce, who blogs at From This Side of The Pond.  Each week she'll pose some questions for us to answer. What a great way to journal life.

1. April 22nd is Earth Day...what's the most 'out of this world' place on earth you've ever visited?  Oh boy! Now, that is a tough one. We've thankfully been to many places that have been beautiful. I'm going to go with Venice and surrounding areas! It was amazing.  Tell us something about it. The colorful buildings, the canals, the place is so stunning.

2. A favorite quote, verse, or song lyric with the word earth in it? I'm scrambling to get this finished so I'll go with a quote I've always liked and that is:

"The Earth Laughs in flowers"

~Emerson

3. What's the most trivial thing about which you have a strong opinion? I'm sure there's many things, ha! I'm going to say that in the kitchen, I have strong opinions about where things should go. I have it organized in a way that I feel is "workable" for me since I'm the one who is in there the most. Every now and then my hubby will try and move things elsewhere.

4. What's your most commonly used kitchen utensil or tool? Okay, you didn't say appliance, so I won't go with that. I use wooden spoons daily, and I bought this awesome Oil Sprayer and I use it all the time. What's the last thing you made using that tool?  Oh, I thought the second question was "what's the least used tool". Haha! I used the sprayer to make dinner Tuesday night to spray the pan, and also pour oil in the pan for asparagus.

5. Marilyn (Memphis Bridges) gave me a great book of 3000 questions, and I'm going to try to use one in our Hodgepodge every week. Here is today's -

What is your greatest extravagance? I'm going to say the ability to go on more trips/vacations. I just wish they could all be with our kids. We were never really able financially to take many trips, and we were in a sense "tied down" to responsibilities as pastors/church leaders to be a part of everything, we didn't like to miss Sundays, and we didn't make much. When that shifted and my hubby found a new job and finances increased over the years as did his vacation time, we have been able to travel more and we really enjoy seeing and experiencing new places. We had great times when our kids were younger, but it was mostly going to the beach or vacationing in Central Oregon, and then every other year visiting my aunts and grandma in Florida. I love my yearly visits to see my aunts in Ohio. Sure there are material things that might be extravagances, I love my kitchen and sitting area in the new part of our house, but I'm going with experiences this time. Great question.

6. Insert your own random thought here. I'm finishing up this post on Wednesday morning and trying to get it done before I have to head out for a massage. It's rainy and gloomy so I'm looking forward to hitting the massage, grocery store, bank and then heading home to hunker down. I'm looking forward to our family vacation coming up soon. We are heading down to central Oregon and looking forward to a nice time!

With Joy Unquenchable,
Kirstin

  1. I enjoyed Venice too. It's incredible to think of the construction of the city. Hope you enjoyed your massage and have a nice visit to Oregon. We never got to Central Oregon but I love the coast. So much beauty!

  4. I was in Grants Pass Oregon a couple of years ago. We went on a Hellcat river ride on the Rogue and it was so much fun! We also went to the coast and saw a lighthouse. I have been to Crater Lake too back in the 70's. I really enjoyed your pictures of Venice!
