Tuesday Four and Wednesday Hodgeodge

Things About You

It's time again for Tuesday 4 hosted by Anne from Cottage by the sea.

Published each week in memory of Toni Taddeo, it's original author. We keep Toni Taddeo's original idea alive here with 4 questions each week to get you blogging, visiting and  learning about yourself and other bloggers.   The more people join in, the merrier and the better it gets. We are always looking for topics, subjects and ideas so feel free to chime in if you have idea.

This week you are the topic.

1. What is something you are proud of that we don't know about? I'm really bad at these kinds of things. I've kind of always struggled with being "proud of something" or feeling I have done something to be proud of. I guess in simple things I'm proud of my daughters and grandchildren. I'm proud of myself for learning how to make sourdough and kombucha. I'm proud of the times I step out and do something uncomfortable. I am proud to be a part of the blogging community.

2. What subject or things are over rated or talked about too much in your opinion? Oh boy! So many things. I think politics and pushing agendas that can cause so much hate and descension for sure. I think we put too much attention on celebrities/athletes.  A lot of times I feel like AI and Media news outlets are over-rated. I feel like we talk too much about what everyone else is doing wrong and we don't focus on any "good".

3. What things and topics should be talked about more often or are under rated in your opinion? I think we should be more willing to come to tables with those we don't fully agree with and talk about our differences. I think we need to talk more often about how we can work together for common good. I think mental health and caring for seniors and veterans should be talked about more. I think healthcare should be talked about more. I want my insurance to cover holistic care as well. I have some other thoughts, but not quite sure how to word it well. I am a Christian, but I think people have taken things so far, that maybe we aren't considering others. We often listen to answer, not to understand. Anyways.

4. Are there any things you've changed your mind about in the last few years? Quite a few things. Some only slightly, some maybe more. I am not so black and white, I'm more willing to sit at a table and have a conversation. I don't judge quite the way I used to. I want to have a conversation with people, to love them where they are. It doesn't mean my opinion or belief has changed, but my willingness to understand has. I won't go into too much depth because I can't quite get my thoughts in order, but the answer is yes and no, and somewhat!!

1. The Winter Olympics kick off on Friday, February 6th...on a scale of 1-10 how excited are you? (1= eh and 10=watching every event all day every day). What's your favorite Winter Olympic sporting event? I'm going to say 5. I do enjoy Olympics, but I kind of forgot about them. I love figure skating but I don't often watch more than that, mostly because of time. I will watch whatever someone else is watching.

2. In other sporting news, the Superbowl (American football's championship game) will be played on Sunday, February 8th. So tell us...what's your superpower? Oh man. I don't know. How often do we feel like we don't have super powers...we look more at the things we're lacking or failing at or simply that we don't have something that really sets us apart (and that's not a bad thing necessarily). In order to have a super power, does that mean you're perfect at that thing? I could say I have the ability to "roll with it", to not take things too seriously or get too bent out of shape, but that's not ALWAYS true. I truly try to see others perspectives, I love to listen to peoples stories, but not ALWAYS...haha. So I'm not sure how to answer.

3. Are you a romantic? Eh, somewhat, but not overly so. I am certainly not high maintenance. If we're talking Valentines Day then I'd probably say no. I don't need anything and I don't need to go out to dinner. Last year my hubby and I went out to eat the day after Valentines Day at a yummy Italian restaurant.

4. Blue cheese-yay or nay? yes!  How about feta? Yes If you said yes to one or both, what's a dish you like that calls for one of these? I love blue cheese salad dressing and blue cheese on a burger. I use feta the most, whether in salads or mixed in a burger.

5. What's more important-doing what you love or loving what you do? I kind of thing you need both. Of course it's important to do what we love, but in the day to day living we aren't always doing what we love. There are groceries to buy, going to work (if that's part of our life), etc. I think it's important to find time to do the things we love in the midst of busyness. I always try to find time to put a few pieces in my puzzles, read when I can, bring my camera to stop and take pictures. Bake or take more time cooking. In day to day, while I'd rather stay home and be a homemaker, I need to work, so I found a job that I love with people I love working with and an opportunity to interact with the community.

6. Insert your own random thought here. I'm trying to get a mile on the treadmill before my grandkids get here. I'm working on getting back up to 10,000 steps a day and exercise. There is a gal I follow on IG and she has a 4 week program right now of 10 minute a day exercise. I'm starting with that. There's an option to do a bit more so once I'm feeling like I'm getting back in the groove, I'll do that. I have a cool desk thing that goes over my treadmill so I can use my computer if I want to.

I was sick with a cold for about a week. Finally feeling better, though still just a little cough.

My daughter and son in law are getting more settled into their home. It's Tuesday as I'm typing and they're supposed to having their patio and porch poured today. Hoping that happens so they can be done and keep getting settled. They need to find some solutions for their water. It's pretty hard and full of some minerals and stuff that causes an odor and orange water. They have a sandpoint. We had the same situation and had to put in a pretty big filtration system for our well. I was NOT going to have nasty water.

Oh, and they got a new puppy. He is a Goldendoodle and the only white one in the litter. He has a brown spot on his ear and on his back, but that's it. His name is Doug.

Well, that's it for today. I decided to combine Tuesday 4 and Hodgepodge so I want to get this posted.

With Joy Unquenchable,
Kirstin
