Taking in Life Around Me......Sweet Treats

This #sundaystills challenge is hosted by Terri from Second Wind LeisureIt's a great themed photography challenge that you'll enjoy. I love seeing the other participants interpretation of the theme each week...it causes me to think outside the box. I joined in hopes of it pushing me to get out and take more photos...I have to some degree, but I also like that Terri is okay with us finding photos in our archives, which is also a lot of fun. So check out my photos and then head over to Terri's page to participate or visit other's posts. There are some awesome contributors who always inspire me.

This weeks theme is "sweet"....I procrastinated, almost didn't post, and then went through and found a bunch of pics in my archives of sweet things I've either made or one of my daughters has made. I'm going with that.

I have made these yummy strawberry lemon cookie bars several times. I first found them when I was participating in a blog hot called Secret Recipe Club. They are so good!

This bowl I had when in Hawaii was one of the best I've ever had. The fruit was so sweet and I seriously could've eaten another one..

I tried my hand at sourdough chocolate chip scones. They did not disappoint.

One summer I made homemade popsicles and then dipped them in chocolate and sprinkled with shredded unsweetened coconut. I don't like coconut so didn't have one, but heard they were good.

I think it's fun (when I have time) to play with styling recipes for the blog or for Instagram just for fun. I've often thought it would be fun to try my hand at food photography for other bloggers, but it seems so many are using ai images or just being content with what they do themselves.

My youngest daughter has made our granddaughters birthday cakes the last few years.

For Valentines Day I wanted a sweet treat but something on the "healthy side". I made these protein cheesecake cups. I combined cottage cheese, greek yogurt, vanilla protein powder and a touch of maple syrup. Then I layered it with crushed graham crackers. Yum!

One year for his birthday my father in law asked me to make a German Chocolate cake. Again, I don't like coconut so I didn't taste test anything. I just hoped it would taste good.

Gelato in Italy? Yes please. We ate gelato every single day we were in Italy.

My mother in law turned 80 last year and my daughter made some cupcakes with mini Swiss cookies that my MIL is well known for. Of course my MIL had to make them because none of us know how to make them yet.

Ice cream with the grandkids is a double sweet treat.

For one of our BKD cookbook club prompts I made lavender shortbread. So, so good!!

Anyone ever made a pizookie. This one was a peanut butter chocolate chip and it was so good and gooey!

I must be a glutton for punishment because I decided to make another cookie that used shredded coconut, so I didn't taste test it. Some friends from work love the Samoa Girl Scout cookies. I decided to try to see if I could make them from scratch. According to them, they were really good. They were VERY time consuming. I'd like to try the thin mints next.

With Joy Unquenchable,
Kirstin
