Wednesday Hodgepodge
2. The Pantone color of the year is cloud dancer, described as a gentle, billowy off white shade. The color symbolizes 'peace, clarity, quiet reflection, renewal, and a soft reset'. Of the terms just listed which do you need most in your life this winter? Interesting choice. I think I need some degree of each of them. Probably quiet reflection, and soft reset resonate the most.
3. Every cloud has a silver lining, on cloud nine, head in the clouds, storm clouds gathering, or cloud of suspicion...which 'cloud' idiom do you most relate to currently? Explain.
4. coconut, cauliflower, cottage cheese, mayonnaise, onions, ranch dressing...of the white foods listed, which would be the hardest for you to give up? Ummm...coconut, hands down...haha. I like it in some variations, but don't like shredded, or a strong flavor of it. Do you like all or any of the foods on the list? I do like all the other items listed.
5. Thomas Wentworth Higginson is credited with this quote-
"How many lessons of faith and beauty we should lose, if there were no winter in our year."
Agree or disagree? Tell us why. I do agree. That doesn't mean a hard winter, though it might. It could mean a mild winter, or harder than normal winter, but "winter" nonetheless. Sometimes we are just struggling with relationships, the world around us, changes within us. Other times it's deeper, but if we can keep our heart in mind in a place of seeing and learning, then the winters aren't for nothing, we can learn to walk through them with more grace and eyes open to what we can take out of it.
6. Insert your own random thought here. Like I said above, I've been a bit MIA. I'm working on getting back into it. Life is still pretty busy here at our house but it's a season of enjoying time with the grandkids and our oldest daughter and son in law. I've missed interacting with the blogging community.
We had a great Christmas season. It is also our busiest season at work so things are always in high gear both at home and at work. I'm glad everything is calming down a bit.
It's been a wet winter so we haven't gotten much accomplished outside and still no decisions on a garage. I think if someone were to ask me, if money wasn't an option.....fill in the blank, I'd probably say, get that darn garage built with the apartment above it, pay it and the house off...haha!
I'm ready for a new year of reading goals, challenges, etc. I've been posting a little more on my blog IG page, which has mainly been unused. Focusing more on book related things, just for fun and creativity. I'm ready for a new year of enjoying blogging and journaling life through my blog. I'm looking forward to a year of being present wherever I'm at and whoever I'm with.
Hopefully I'll see you next week.

We all go through a "winter" season of blogging, don't we?! :) Nice to meet you!
ReplyDeleteI'm always slow to get going in the new year and I'm okay with that. I haven't blogged all week until today, but I'm working on some reorganization projects, time with my grands, catching up on my stack of books and rest. I think winter is made for rest. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of snow shoeing or cross country skiing but I am more of an indoors person when it comes to the winter.
ReplyDeleteAhh! You have been MIA for all the good reasons with spending time with your family. Lovely to have you back though.
Kirstin, this is a very reflective post. I am definitely not a winter person, which is why we moved back to CA. That said, it was a very wintery-wet season - or has been so far. In CA we talk about winter in the past starting in late January, early February. Have a wonderful week, and thanks for dropping by, my friend. :) xxxx
ReplyDeleteI can identify with the blogging MIA situation. I would love to be a regular blogger; however, that just doesn't seem to be happening these days. So, I try to be as consistent with the Hodgepodge as possible. That too has issues. I will agree with you to just do the best we can and as we are able, without applying unnecessary guilt or pressure to ourselves. Hope that garage sees completion in '26.
ReplyDeleteI hope you start blogging more but living life is more important than blogging!! Time with the grands and those whom you love is the most important way to spend your time. I agree with what you said about winter. So true! It sounds like you guys have some projects to keep you busy :). Have a great day!
