Taking in Life Around Me.....Flower Hour Photo Challenge

My blogging friend Terri has started a new photo challenge #flowerhour and I may try to join in each week. She'll post every Tuesday. I think I'll keep it simple, with just one or two photos.

"Where Flowers bloom, so does hope"....Lady Bird Johnson

Flowers bring joy, wouldn't you agree? The winter months can be hard here in our neck of the woods as days are short, and cold and marked with rain. Flowers lie dormant beneath the ground. Last week I went out to our side planting area and I actually found a flower blooming. It was on my pineapple sage plant. I didn't know it had flowers. Imagine my joy when all the other plants around it were done flowering.

If you asked me what my favorite flower is, I'd probably say dahlias. There is a lady  in our town who has a flower farm of sorts and her daughter was on my oldest daughters soccer team and at their end of year party they gave her this beautiful bouquet. I was more than happy to enjoy it's abundant beauty on display.

I have yet to make it to the Canby, Oregon Dahlia Festival, but I will someday. There is another dahlia farm here locally that I hope to visit this season.

"The earth laughs in flowers"...Ralph Waldo Emerson

I thought I'd take some creative liberties and make it a bit artistic.

In other exciting photography news, I have saved up enough money to buy a used Sigma 150-600 lens. I'm so excited. It'll arrive in time for the bald eagles on the river enjoying smelt...and even better....my daughter and son in law are putting a house down there so I can have free parking to enjoy the show. Now to get. him to build me viewing platform.

With Joy Unquenchable,
Kirstin
