Wednesday Hodgepodge
2. Dictionary.com's word of the year is '6-7'. Huh? Noooooooo
Is it even a word??? I had to consult the internet to find out it's meaning because apparently I'm old and this particular slang is not part of my vocabulary. Is it part of yours? According to the article I read, it's a viral term, more of an inside joke with an unclear meaning driven by social media.
What do you think? That is ridiculous. I heard it for the first time a few weeks ago when my daughters were laughing that my 7 year old grandson used it. Apparently he heard some youth group kids saying it. It was hilarious listening to them tell how he used it, but honestly it would get old really quick and would annoy me if he was older and always used it.
Dictionary. com says it's selection each year is a 'linguistic time capsule reflecting social trends and events, but they also admitted to being confused by '6-7'. Some say it means so-so and is sometimes accompanied by the up and down hand motion we associate with the phrase so-so. My daughters said kids they know use it when they don't care to make a decision....like "do you want chicken or pizza?" They'll respond "6-7" or what do you like better, chicken or pizza?" "6-7"...I mean, really?
What word do you think would have made a better choice? I have no idea. I don't really keep up with "popular" words, and I always feel weird using them, though I'm sure I did when I was in school.
3. What's a food, trend, activity, or thing people love but you think is just so-so? I'm going to go with Chatgpt and AI. I know it has it's place, and I've used it here and there, but I don't love it. I think it's over used and mis-used. I hate not knowing (though I can usually tell) if a photo or video is AI, or even a group of text/document, etc has been generated by Chatgpt/AI.
I'm sure there's a food but I just don't pay super close attention.
4. Are you a tea drinker? Not really, but I do really like chai tea so if I'm somewhere and don't want a coffee I'll get a chai. Hot or cold? I prefer cold over hot, but if hot is the only option I'll drink that. How do you like yours and at what time of day? Either one. Do you like flavored teas or teas billed as calming, energizing, healing, etc? It just depends on what catches my eye or sounds good.
5. The November Hodgepodge has always included a weekly gratitude question. Here's the question for today-what are three things that make your heart sing?
My family, my home, fall colors.
6. Insert your own random thought here. Ladies, I promise, after the New Year I'll get back to being better about getting around to commenting on everyone's (well most everyone...there are a lot of entries) posts..it's so hard to do when I have my oldest daughter and her family living up here on our property. I love it, but there's not a lot of "free me time" to just sit and read blog posts...I'm not complaining at all because I am savoring this time and it is "real life" which is priority. I do enjoy getting a peek into everyone's lives and answers are so fun. So I do try each week to get around to at least a handful but hope to get around to more in the future.
I need to start thinking about Thanksgiving, though my MIL usually does the main dishes and hosting...she just loves it so until she can't anymore, we'll let her do it. One year we had it up here and she just didn't know what to do with herself...lol.
Thank you Joyce for always coming up with great questions for us to answer and journal about.

Happy birthday to your daughter, there seems to be so many birthdays in November, mine is later in the month too!
ReplyDeleteYours is the best description for what 6-7 is all about. It is a silly phrase.
Ahh! Family and real life always has to come before blogging.
If I asked someone if they wanted pizza or chicken and they said 6-7, I'd be wondering if they wanted 6 or 7 pizzas or pieces of chicken, lol! Great answers, AI drives me up the wall as well.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on Ai. I have started checking on facebook if a post says ai generated. Many do. I have a friend who for years has always posted sweet birthday messages on Facebook for her kids and grandkids. The last two or three I can absolutely tell are AI generated because they just don't sound like her at all or the way her previous posts were written. Makes me a little sad. Gotta live life before we blog about it so enjoy your family. We had a similar situation when our kids were living here the first part of the year so I get it. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to your daughter! My husband and my brother-in-law have November birthdays, and we just celebrated my granddaughter's birthday. I think the 6-7 trend is so silly but I'm sure it will be over as quickly as it started and the kids will be saying something else equally as silly. LOL
ReplyDeleteI have the same struggles with finding time to visit the other bloggers and comment. It's almost like my job gets in the way of my hobbies. ;-) I do my best and some weeks are better than others.
HOpe you're having a great week!
I am Mariam Baurice used every single spell worker on the internet, spent untold amounts of money and discovered they are all fakes…i was the fool though; doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. In the end, I decided that I wanted a tarot reading to know what my future held for me; I contacted a woman who lives locally to me and she told me about a man named (priests Abija); he does not advertise on the internet, has another job for income, has no set prices, makes no false promises and refuses to help anyone that cannot be helped and even helps for free sometimes, he will give you proof before taking money.
ReplyDeleteHe is a wonderful man and he was the only person who actually gave me real results.
I really hope he doesn’t mind me advertising his contact on the internet but I’m sure any help/ extra work will benefit him.contact him as spirituallighthealing101@live.com He travel sometimes.love marriage, finance, job promotion ,gambling voodoo, lottery Voodoo, poker voodoo, golf Voodoo,Law & Court case Spells, money voodoo, weigh loss voodoo, any sicknesses voodoo,Trouble in marriage,it’s all he does Hope this helps everyone that is in a desperate situation as I once was; I know how it feels to hold onto something and never have a chance to move on because of the false promises and then to feel trapped in wanting something
