Tuesday Four....Music and You
Music and You
It's time again for Tuesday 4 hosted by Anne from Cottage by the sea.
Published each week in memory of Toni Taddeo, it's original author. We keep Toni Taddeo's original idea alive here with 4 questions each week to get you blogging, visiting and learning about yourself and other bloggers. The more people join in, the merrier and the better it gets. We are always looking for topics, subjects and ideas so feel free to chime in if you have idea.
The topic for this week's Tuesday 4 meme is Music..
1. Do you play a musical instrument? I don't play it anymore, but I did play the flute from grade school through high school. I did play it from time to time as an adult but had borrowed someones and never bought one for myself. I'm not sure I'd remember how to play anymore. I sure loved it though.
I wish I would've tried to learn piano.
I thought I'd share this photo....for concert band we had to wear these dresses. We all joked that they made us look like we were going to a funeral. One of the only ways to get one was to find a past student who had one that you could buy. It was so hard. Not the funnest to wear by any means.
2. Have you taken music lessons? Yes, I did. What kind. Private flute lessons from a fellow band members mom. If not, is there one you might enjoy learning. I wouldn't mind learning the piano. It is never too late to start. You might be surprised at how accomplished it will make you feel. It would be fun to try, but we don't have a piano. My youngest has a keyboard in her room and she has sort of taught herself. I think there are other things I'd like to learn more though at this point in life.
3. Is there music in your home as background to your day's activities or do you have music playing in your car, etc.? Yes, I often either have music or an audio book going in the car or at home. If so, what kind of music do you enjoy hearing? I usually play my Spotify playlist in the car and it's a VERY eclectic mix of genres. Sometimes I'll listen to the radio but not that often.
What kind of music do you NOT like? I don't like heavy metal and I'm not a fan of rap if I can't understand what is being said. I also don't care for opera.

4. Do you have a favorite composer or genre of music that you like most? No, I have a pretty eclectic taste in music. I do remember loving playing the nutcracker suite in HS band. It was so pretty, and to this day I love it. Maybe you like several. Please share with us your thoughts? I love music. It is powerful and can evoke so many emotions. It can be so healing. I love singing and dancing with my grandkids. Or just singing and dancing (well, pretending I can dance) by myself.
Thank you for joining in and come again next week!

I wish I could learn to play the piano, but fear at my age I wouldn't do very well and would become too distracted. We have my parents' old Wurlitzer Organ (1970's model) in my son's room. He loves to play it when he comes home, but he makes up his music and wears headphones most of the time so we can't hear what he's playing. However, what I've heard has always been very good. He should have had lessons, but like me, sitting down and learning something like that takes a lot of concentration and discipline...and neither one of us were that good at sitting still. LOL. I love music also, but mostly singing. Thank you for joining in again! Always good to hear from you. I can imagine you played the flute very well!!
ReplyDeleteYes, music can heal and it has a powerful influence on peoples moods too. Flute made me dizzy but of course I wasn't doing it right. I will stick with piano.
ReplyDeleteOh, those are quite the dresses you had to wear in band!
ReplyDeleteThe flute has such a wonderful sound, we had a lady in church who played the flute and her mother played the piano and organ. Actually if I'm honest, her mother made music on the piano and organ, she was a wonder to listen to.
