Weekend Coffee Share....Come Sit with Me

It's another week of Weekend Coffee Share. I always love everyone's posts. Are you like me and try to visit everyone? It doesn't always happen but I try. I have loved getting to know different bloggers and I figure if they take the time to write a post, I'll find the time to visit, even if it's a week later. I truly enjoy what you all share and I often learn so much.

Check out all the other posts on Weekend Coffee Share, hosted by Natalie the Explorer. I'm off to go visit some now. #weekendcoffeeshare.

If we were having coffee we'd probably talk about:

We just returned from just shy of a two week vacation to Colorado which is one reason I've been MIA the last few weeks. I hope to do a post on our trip in the near future. It was definitely a bucket list trip for me.

The weather: The weather here in the PNW is definitely fall-ish. We usually fluctuate between warm days and cold ones. It might rain, it might not. You never know. We arrived home on Tuesday to a day of upper 70's temps, but it is going down from there with some rain in the near future. I'd like it to NOT rain Sunday as I'm doing a 10k with my MIL and a friend of hers...I'm not a fan of being "in" the rain and getting wet.

What we're thinking about: I was thinking about kindness or the words we use when are behind a screen. It is so easy to spout something off from our keyboards without thinking about how it will come across...and not just political either. When we were planning our trip to Colorado I went onto a FB page to ask for recommendations...most people were great. One person was good but one comment they made had me going "was that even a necessary comment". Then after we were home, I went back on the page and thanked everyone for their tips and recommendations and that we had a great time. One local asked what our favorite/least favorite things were as they love to know what visitors enjoyed. I noticed someone did an angry emoji to that and my first comment back...then that person responded by saying "take advice and don't provide feedback lol please don't come again". Uhhhh.....wow! Now maybe she was joking but in written form, how am I to know that!...her first name by the way was Karen...haha. Sometimes it's best just to not say anything. Do we have nothing better to do than ridicule people? Does it make people feel better or more powerful? It just makes me shake my head.

What we're thankful for: Even though sometimes technology can seem like our worst enemy, I am thankful for all the positives it brings. Many times on our trip (and other trips), we see something and wonder about, and, if we have service, it's so easy to just look it up and learn something new. Maybe we're having a conversation and wonder about a particular person or thing or topic. We can get more info easily. Again, not always a good thing, but I do sometimes thing the positives outweigh the negatives.

Around the house: My plants survived me being gone and relying on others to take care of them. We are still SLOWLY moving forward on our garage build, as in, still in planning phase. We do need to move our blueberries still. I need to contact someone to turn some dirt for us. My girls did a small amount of decorating for fall while I was gone and I'm trying to decide if I want to do more. I honestly don't know if I even feel like going all out this year since we were gone almost the first whole week of fall.

For the love of food: We enjoyed a lot of good food and coffee while on our trip. I love finding new coffee shops when we travel, and I found some winners. We usually stuck with eating one meal a day and just had snacks or small things throughout the day, which worked great. Since being home, I've made hamburgers, taco soup with sourdough cornbread, roasted chicken that I cut up and we put on salad. I chuckled because the 10th is our anniversary and the meal I put in the crockpot is called Marry Me Chicken (which I planned without thinking about it being our anniversary).

If we were having coffee I'd ask what your favorite fall meals are, especially crockpot ones.

For the love of reading: I did get some reading done on our trip. I finished the Mountain Country K-9 Unit series. I brought the final two books with me. I also finished The Secret, Book & Scone Society book 1. This was a fun one as it was part cozy mystery, but not quite your typical cozy. There are 8 more in the series and I look forward to reading them. I've started The Pumpkin Spice Cafe by Laurie Gilmore because in the 52 book challenge it said this had a sprayed edge. I'm still working on Supercommunicators but that one is taking awhile..I may try to get it on audio.

What we're listening to or watching: I caught up on a few podcast episodes that I was behind on. While driving, my hubby and I also listened to a few podcasts. We watched the movie Karate Kids: Legends which was really good. I am just about done with the audiobook Find Your People by Jennie Allen. I have another one in queue to listen to for the 52 book challenge called The House at Pooh Corner...I can't remember what prompt that was for.

Favorite quote:  I saw this quote while I was on vacation and it was perfect because that felt like what we were doing.

Favorite photo(s): I have so many photos from our trip but I just got back from working at the pumpkin patch and have an early morning Sunday getting up and driving an hour and a half to do a 10k walk with my MIL and her friend. I'm tired and I have to finish this post or it won't get done.

I've seen pictures of these giants all over the place but had never seen them in person. There was one in Colorado where we were and I just had to find it.

I loved this bronze statue.

Random or not so random things: Coming back from vacation is always interesting. We hit the ground running as soon as we landed. We got home, I left an hour later to go pick up grandkids and had them the rest of the evening. Wednesday was a day of cleaning, organizing and grocery shopping. Then back to work. I'm also helping on weekends at our local pumpkin patch so it has been a busy week back. I kind of wish I had a few more days off just to get back in the swing of things slowly.

It's now Saturday night and I'm ready to crash. I need to be up at 4:15 Sunday morning to go do a 10k (which I mentioned above, that's how tire I am, so I'll end this here. Maybe next week I'll have more time to put into it.

With Joy Unquenchable,
Kirstin

  3. I felt the same way when I returned from my trip even though I wasn't going back to work right away. I put in a lot of my energy prepping for my kid's first day of grade school.
