Wednesday Hodgepodge

It's time for Wednesday Hodgepodge with Joyce, who blogs at From This Side of The Pond.  Each week she'll pose some questions for us to answer. What a great way to journal life.

1. What do you like most about your family? Families are so complex aren't they? There's our immediate core family, then our extended family. There are things we like, love, and struggle with in the relationships we have with each of them. I would say that I like how we do life together for the most part. I like that right now our oldest daughter and her family are staying on our property and our grandkids come and go from their trailer to our house and we all help out. They'll only be 10 minutes away when they move but I'm really enjoying this time together.

2. What's something nice that's happened to you recently? Hmmm.....to be honest, I'm not really sure. It's not that anything bad has happened, but I can't think of anything that has stuck out to me like "that was really nice".

3. Do you like the color orange? Yes, to some degree, I'm not a fan of bright or florescent orange. Besides a pumpkin and an actual orange, what's something orange you love? Dahlias, tulips, butterflies, California poppies.

4.  What's something you have now you couldn't have imagined having five years ago? A new car. How does that make you feel? I like the feeling of comfort and security that it's not going to break down. What's possible now because of it? I'm not sure this answer applies, but I suppose added safety, comfort, traveling long distances without issues. We've always had used cars and drive them til they die. Our last car was a 2005 Ford Focus, and while it still drove great, it wasn't the most comfortable for trips, no cruise control (I know, first world problems), and was having some issues. So having a new car seems more liberating plus it's AWD so we can get to more places more easily.

5. Let's wrap this one up with an October this or that...

  • pumpkin bread or apple cider donut
    • Donut (but they have to be eaten hot and fresh)
  • cozy sweater or cozy hoodie
    • I'd say both, however I run hot so I am often taking them on and off, so probably a cardigan would be more fitting,
  • apple picking or pumpkin picking
    • Pumpkin picking
  • scary movie or Hallmark movie
    • Hallmark movie
  • hay ride or corn maze
    • Both but if one, corn maze
  • twinkle lights or candles
    • both
  • autumn hike or autumn bonfire
    • autumn hike followed by a bonfire

6. Insert your own random thought here. I'm making a meal for my boss and her husband tonight. She had surgery last week. Not only is she my boss, but my son in laws aunt and a friend. I'm making chicken soup, rolls and something simple for dessert. I'll make a double batch of soup and we'll have the same thing for dinner.

Keeping this part short this week since I have the grandkids this morning. See you next week.

With Joy Unquenchable,
Kirstin

  1. I love to make (and also eat) chicken soup. It's one of the best smells ever and is good for mind and body both. My hubs got a new car a few months ago and I will need one next year. Hopefully not until late next year! I love an orange poppy and most orange flowers in general. Have a nice day!
