Wednesday Hodgepodge

It's time for Wednesday Hodgepodge with Joyce, who blogs at From This Side of The Pond.  Each week she'll pose some questions for us to answer. What a great way to journal life.

1. Do you make an effort to see/hear live music? Yes, sometimes. Last time you went somewhere for the live music? Oh boy...I can't remember. When my youngest daughter was younger I accompanied her to many concerts, especially smaller ones that were in a venue that required an adult. My hubby and I did go see the Trans Siberian Orchestra two years ago.

2.According to HGTV the colors of the year for 2026 are mostly decided. Top paint companies declare a color of the year, and decorators will incorporate that into their new year home and room designs. Here's what's on tap in terms of paint trends for 2026 (check out the link here to see photos)

  • Sherwin Williams-universal khaki (inspired by heavy canvas and outdoor gear)
  • Behr-hidden gem (a confident shade of teal)
  • Valspar-warm eucylyptus (a warm sliver tinted green)
  • Dutch Boy-melodious ivory (a honey tinted beige)
  • Glidden-warm mahogany (a classic brick red)
  • Krylon-matte coffee bean
  • Clark and Kensington -Hazelnut Crunch (warm reddish-brown)
  • Graham and Brown-Divine Damson (cherry red with a subtle violet undertone)
  • Dunn and Edwards-midnight garden (the green that works everywhere)

First question-did you know there were so many different paint manufacturers? I knew there were a lot but several I hadn't heard of. Which color on the list most appeals to you in terms of your own decorating style? I love the midnight garden, warm eucalyptus, and universal khaki. They are all pretty though. Do you have plans to do any painting in your home in the coming year, and if so might you choose a color from this list? Not really. We're trying to get a garage built so no painting thoughts for the house.

Now, forget painting walls, which color name appeals to you most? coffee bean..haha...

3. What's something in your life you have to do-watch-or participate in that's about as exciting as 'watching paint dry'?

4 . Tuesday, October 14th is/was National Dessert day...did you/will you celebrate? Hmmm, now that it's Wednesday morning I will say that I did not celebrate because I didn't know. Maybe I'll have to make up for it. Tell us how? What's your absolute favorite dessert. Yes, just one. I know!! I will say chocolate cake with buttercream frosting...if I have to just choose one.

5. Perhaps today is the day I will __________________________________.

I will get caught up on a few things, at least, that I've needed to do since we got back from our trip last week. Organize receipts, mop floor, clean bathroom, post albums on FB, clean out my clothes drawers.

6. Insert your own random thought here. My hubby and I went on a 2 week vacation to Colorado. We got back last Tuesday and what a great time we had. I could live there....in one of the small towns, surrounded by mountains...or in one of the bigger towns, but living closer to the historic district. I have so many photos, and I took notes so I'd remember what we did, where we ate etc. My hope is to do a blog post on the trip. I'd love to do a post on each of our stops but I don't think I'll have time to get all those done so I may just do one post, and pick a few favorite photos. The colors were stunning and we saw some great wildlife.

It's always great to go on vacation, but it really is great to also come home...to our house, our people, our state (which I do love living in). The fall colors haven't quite popped here yet. I'm just waiting.

Since I have a list of what I "should" do today, I'll keep this post short.

With Joy Unquenchable,
Kirstin

  3. So glad you had a wonderful trip! I feel like the colors are slower to pop all around the country. Even friends in New England say they're not as bright as they normally are this time of year. I love to read travel recaps and I also love Colorado.
