Taking in Life Around Me.....#Sundaystills...Fall Plant Life
This #sundaystills challenge is hosted by Terri from Second Wind Leisure. It's a great themed photography challenge that you'll enjoy. I love seeing the other participants interpretation of the theme each week...it causes me to think outside the box. I joined in hopes of it pushing me to get out and take more photos...I have to some degree, but I also like that Terri is okay with us finding photos in our archives, which is also a lot of fun. So check out my photos and then head over to Terri's page to participate or visit other's posts. There are some awesome contributors who always inspire me.
While I don't enjoy the wetter, cloudier, darker days of fall....I do LOVE the colors that come with it. On our recent trip to Colorado we spent a lot of time saying "wow", at the colors that greeted us as we drove around the state. From flowers in huge displays down the main street of Telluride, to the aspens and other foliage showing off their colors. Back home, things are turning more slowly, taking their own sweet time. It's October, so I'm working at the pumpkin patch that my son in laws family owns. I've helped out there for over 15+ years.
The first six are fall at our local pumpkin patch. I just love this place and the people. Is it tiring, yes. My job is to go through everyone's finds, price them and send them to the pay booth. I am pretty much in one place all day on Saturdays and Sundays (no 10,000 steps for me on those days, well, unless I went for a walk earlier). By the time I get home, I'm wiped out..but it is a beautiful place and it's so fun interacting with all the people. People can shop specialty pumpkins and gourds, apples, etc in the market area or head out to the U-pick. There are two corn mazes, a kids hay maze and hay rides...oh and we can't forget pumpkin bowling.
We ate dinner at James Ranch grille in Durango and I spotted these flowers above and below. I think the ones above would be pretty in a vase.
I grabbed a few close ups of some that reminded me of fall.

Down the main street in Telluride are several of these large planters filled with beautiful flowers.

On a stop in Palisade, we spotted a neat little shop and I just loved these two displays (above and below).
I was never disappointed by what we saw. It seemed we unknowingly picked a great time to visit and a great route to take. I feel like we hit many areas at their peak. As I kept up on local FB pages I noticed that some areas we had been, especially roads, had been closed due to snow or bad weather that had come in, however, we missed all that and were able to enjoy those areas.
Kirstin

Wow, you hit the bonanza of colors in Colorado, Kirstin! I've read yellow is the main color there due to a lack of maple trees. I didn't realize the size and scope of your family pumpkin farm! I can understand why you are kept busy! Hopefully, you'll get some good colors on your side of the state!
ReplyDeleteA beautiful array of fall photos! 😍 I jusst read Terri's comment, and she answered my question about why there's mostly yellow. That last image, with the trees reflected in the water really pops! 👌
