Weekend Coffee Share....Come Sit with Me

It's another week of Weekend Coffee Share. I always love everyone's posts. Are you like me and try to visit everyone? It doesn't always happen but I try. I have loved getting to know different bloggers and I figure if they take the time to write a post, I'll find the time to visit, even if it's a week later. I truly enjoy what you all share and I often learn so much.

Check out all the other posts on Weekend Coffee Share, hosted by Natalie the Explorer. I'm off to go visit some now. #weekendcoffeeshare.

If we were having coffee we'd probably talk about:

The weather: Fall is in the air. Temps alternate between low 70's all the way to mid 80's and back down again. Mornings and evenings are cool and pleasant. I do love summer, but I am also looking forward to fall weather.

What we're thinking about: Probably what a lot of others are thinking about. This week has been a heavy one. Too much death, remembering 9/11, so much hate and negativity, a dear friend of mine dealing with a potential diagnosis. I've just had to guard what I allow myself to bring in...to stay present to life around me, to know when enough is enough, and just turn it off or scroll on by. I've had to mute some people and pages, at least for now.

What we're thankful for: Life, family, friends, health. Wisdom, faith, peace, rest. My home, that is a place of peace for me, even when it's loud and chaotic.

Around the house: I have been so very happy with how my flowers in my planting bed have done. I haven't really lost any except for a few bulbs that never came up, but that's my fault because I waited too long to plant them. Maybe they'll surprise me next year. I hope to spend some time over the next few days cleaning inside, and organizing some cupboards. Some things need a deeper clean.

For the love of food: I didn't participate in the BKD cookbook club this past week. I just didn't have time. I made some stuffed peppers this week, we bought pizza at our local corner store that makes the best pizza on sourdough crust. I also made a hamburger soup that is a fall/winter staple. It's so hearty and full of flavor. Here's the link. It calls for Kale but I often forget. I also made some blackberry scones that were really good. Other than that, not much exciting. Oh, I did cook down some tomatoes from my yard and from a friend along with some garlic and basil..I'll use that on some homemade pasta. I also received some cherry bomb peppers and am trying a refrigerator "pickled pepper" recipe..I won't eat them because apparently they're spicy.

I brought home a loaf of sourdough bread from Seabrook, and had it with some of the homemade butter I made...so good.

For the love of books: I've got a hold on one of the books for book club though it looks like I won't be able to make the meeting so I'm not too worried. I am working on The Sicilian Inheritance but I need to speed read that one since I need to mail it out next week. I did start another book in the Mountain Country K-9 Unit called Montana Abduction Rescue, and also The Answer is No by Fredrick Backman. I've been looking for books that will fit with the 52 book challenge, and that one fit a category and I already had it, AND it's short, so score!!

What we're listening to or watching: I've watched some episodes of Master Chef and my grandson has been enjoying them too. I am behind on a few of my favorite podcasts so I really need to catch up. I'm also listening to the book A Honeybee heart has Five Openings by Helen Jukes. It was on a list for fitting a prompt for the 52 book challenge and it's actually very interesting.

Favorite quote: I'm just going to share a few memes I saw this past week that I really liked. I'm on the wire for finishing this in time.

Favorite photo(s):

Indiana had his first soccer game. It was fun to watch! He even scored a goal or two.

We took Pepper to the farmers market after the game and she got a waffle popsicle.

Random or not so random things: Natalie is taking a break next week and we are heading out for a Colorado vacation the following week so it may be a few weeks before I get back to posting. I'll bring my computer with me, but we'll see how it goes. I may focus on doing some draft posts for our trips. Inserting quick links, what we did, but not publishing them right away. We'll see how it goes.

Next week, a group of 9 of us are going to climb Mt. St. Helens. I'm only going as far as you can without a permit, then I will turn back. I'm working on healing an achilles tendonitis issue and don't want to push it. Plus I'm not sure I'm ready for to tackle that big of a hike.

Life is always quite the journey isn't it and we just never know where it will take us or what season we will find ourselves in. Whatever season you find yourself walking in, may you have much grace and peace to walk through it. Joy and laughter and rest. Make the most of the moments in front of you! See you in a few weeks.

With Joy Unquenchable,
Kirstin
