Wednesday Hodgepodge
Birthday party, beach party, cocktail party, dinner party, charity fundraiser, surprise party, costume party, garden party, Christmas party, reunion...what's your favorite kind of party? intimate dinner party with a small group...when there are too many, I feel like I have to get around to talking to everyone. A garden party sounds fun.
2. Cheese, wine, and balsamic vinegar all improve with age. What would you personally add to the list? Sourdough starter!! Haha!!
3. How do you feel about your birthday? Eh, it's a day of the year. I often am working, and that's fine. I know people who literally celebrate their birthday the whole week or even month but not me. It might be fun to do something simple over the course of several days. How do you want to be celebrated? Or don't you? I am a little uncomfortable with being celebrated in big ways. I'd rather it be something simple with just family. Maybe for my 60th I wouldn't mind a party. I've heard of people plan like "60 things they want to do before they turn 60" or whatever year they pick. I think that sounds fun. I have never been one who has to celebrate on a specific day.
If my daughter is working on my birthday and I go get a coffee, she or one of the other girls will write on my cup.4. What remarkable feat, interesting piece of trivia, or historical event occurred on your birth day and month? Well, the one fun one was that on December 9th, 1965, A Charlie Brown Christmas aired for the first time on TV. Not necessarily your same birth year, just the same date/month. I found the info on this site.
5. Share two good things about your life right now. Grandkids & Home! I am loving having my grandkids (and of course oldest daughter and son in law) living on our property while their home is being built and their building site prepped. It's been fun, busy, sometimes tiring, but so worth the time spent and memories made. I love "home", "home" is good, it is my peaceful space (most of the time), it's where I enjoy being.
6. Insert your own random thought here.
I'm a day late getting this posted. It's currently 4:15 on Thursday...in the morning. I woke up at 3:15 to see a group off to climb Mt. St Helens. I was so supposed to join but I've been nursing an achilles tendon issue and knew I wasn't going to climb all the way...I decided it didn't make sense for me to go, climb for maybe and hour and a half and turn around, then either wait for everyone else which would be about 6 hours or drive back by myself. I opted to stay home this time. I'll make sure everyone has food when they get back. I would have liked to make the climb, but maybe another time.
I have a project in planning what we're going to be doing on our trip to Colorado. We leave next week and will be gone for about 10 days. My hubby has all our reservations made and I'm going to sit and look for things we might want to do, where we might want to eat. We're going to be covering a lot of miles over those 10 days so we want to be somewhat prepared. We love using Roadtrippers to plan our trips. It is a pretty cool site. I'm pretty excited. Colorado has been on my bucket list for a long time.
I'll keep it short since I'm already running behind. I may post next week. We'll see how it goes.
We both have pictures from our 2nd birthday. I enjoyed your birthday pictures.. My kids gave me both a 60th and 70th birthday. I would love to go back and see Colorado. I was there when I was 12. We went to Pikes Peak and the Royal Gorge. I am sure you will have lots of fun!
ReplyDeleteColorado sounds like a fun trip! My dad grew up on a farm there and it's a beautiful state. I'll have to check out the Roadtrippers site as I want to start planning a trip out west for 2027. I've heard you have to start early with some of the parks we'd want to visit. Hope your Achilles heals soon!
ReplyDeleteYour birthday celebrations look and sound like a lot of fun! Our family also has the tradition of the birthday girl/guy picking dinner on their special day. It used to be that I was the only one who got taken to a restaurant for that birthday, but now that everyone's grown up we do that most of the time. Your upcoming trip sounds like a lot of fun too! Hope you're having a great week!
