Wednesday Hodgepodge

It's time for Wednesday Hodgepodge with Joyce, who blogs at From This Side of The Pond.  Each week she'll pose some questions for us to answer. What a great way to journal life.

1. August is National Golf month...do you play? Nope. My husband and oldest daughter play. Do you enjoy following golf? Our oldest played in high school so I watched a lot of matches and tournaments. Have you ever been to a professional tournament? Nope. Just H.S. I will watch it on TV it's a good match.

Well, I barely understood golf, I loved walking the courses and taking pictures of my daughter as she played. It was peaceful and relaxing. She only started playing when she was in HS but did good enough to be on the varsity team and go to state a few times.

2. Astronaut Jim Lovell of Apollo 13 fame passed away this past Thursday. Are you interested in outer space and what's happening today in terms of space exploration? While I love seeing the moon and stars and will search for planets, and attempt to get up for a meteor shower, I don't really pay much attention to space and space exploration. If space travel became common in your lifetime would you go? I don't think I would. How do you personally relate to the idea of exploring something vast and mysterious...does the idea excite you, intimidate you, or something else? I don't think I have any feelings about it..there is so much beauty right where we are.

3. Describe your communication style in three words. No short stories..... haha! I'm sure I could come up with other words, but this one came to mind.

4. Do you have a favorite cookbook? Hmmm...I tend to get a lot of recipes online nowadays, but I still have quite a few. Is one more of a favorite than another, not necessarily. I use several recipes from an old church cookbook I put together in the mid 90's for a youth group fundraiser. A favorite celebrity chef? I've always liked Ree Drummond, Joanna Gaines, Michael Symon, probably many others.  Do you watch any cooking shows on TV? I love cooking shows...master chef, Beat Bobby Flay, DIners, drive ins and dives, Chopped, The Pioneer Woman, Joanna Gaines cooking show, The Great British Baking Competition...I'll stop there.

The shelves that contain cookbooks and printed recipes and a few magazines that I liked.

5. As a child did you have any back to school traditions? Not that I can remember. If so, did you carry on those same traditions with your own children? I homeschooled so we didn't really have the back to school traditions. Do you have any back to school traditions you've started on your own? Nope.

6. Insert your own random thought here. I just got back not long ago from a Physical Therapy appointment where I had what is called a softWave treatment on both of my legs for some achilles tendonitis. It's been bothering me for several weeks. My husband has had this treatment on his should and has noticed a significant improvement on what he can do.

This is AI's definition: SoftWave therapy, also known as SoftWave TRT (Tissue Regeneration Therapy), is a non-invasive treatment that uses acoustic shockwaves to activate the body's natural healing process, reduce pain, and promote tissue regenerationIt's an FDA-cleared technology that utilizes a patented parabolic reflector to deliver broad, focused, and low-intensity shockwaves to the targeted area, stimulating cellular activity and promoting healing.

This particular treatment originated in Germany and there are a lot of "copy cats" out there. Here's the link to the official site. I'm excited to see how my tenonitis responds to it.

Since I have to get my #WOYBS post written I'll keep todays short and sweet.

With Joy Unquenchable,
Kirstin

  1. I hope the shock wave therapy helps. I'm sure if I had a child who played golf it would be more interesting to me but I didn't so golf is not something I play or watch. We have a lot of cookbooks but tend to only use a few favourites.

  2. I hope the therapy helps. I have quite a few cookbooks, even though I mostly go online for recipes. I know which books contain my most used though and enjoy pulling them out. Have a nice weekend!

  3. That's so interesting about the shock wave therapy. I hope it helps you! I'm going to try and remember that for future, as I'm sure I'll have need for something like that at some point again. haha. Hope you're having a great week!
