Wednesday Hodgepodge
2. Do you have a favorite beach? I live in the PNW and I love the pacific ocean, especially the Oregon Coast. It is stunning, however, the water is so cold. But I also love the beaches in the puget sound or the beaches on lakes that I've visited. What's your favorite 'beach' activity? I love combing the beach for shells, rocks or beach glass. I also like sitting and reading, then wading when I get too hot. Tell us what we'd find in your beach bag. Probably sunscreen, a towel, water bottle, snacks a book (either physical or kindle).
3. Your favorite book or movie with a beach setting?
Book: I haven't read too many books with beach settings, though I read a cozy mystery called Beaches and Bodies that took place on a beach and one called Beachfront Bakery.
Movies: Soul Surfer, blue crush, Castaway
4. What's a food you love, but find it's a pain to eat? Crab. Is it worth it? Totally worth it!
5. Do you like roller coasters? No Way Jose!! Nothing high, or twisty, or that goes upside down. What's the best (or worst) roller coaster you've been on? I didn't mind going on splash mountain. I recall going on one at Cedar Point in Ohio and it scaring me pretty bad. Ha!
6. Insert your own random thought here.
Again, I've not gotten around to commenting on posts from last week. I'm so sorry. I know how much I appreciate comments when I've put in the time to write a post so I feel bad when I don't get to it. I have to figure that out somehow...If I can't visit everyone (which I'd love to do), I need to at least visit a decent amount. Life has been full and sometimes it's been hard to just sit and comment. I'll keep trying though. I so love reading everyone's answers and I learn so much from each of you.
The last week was very busy as we were celebrating my mother in laws 80th birthday, so time was spent creating a slide show, getting things set up and ready. Sunday (which was party day), my MIL and 3 others were scheduled to jump out of an airplane and do tandem skydiving. That was canceled due to clouds (we are rescheduled for next week). We all met up at a local park and took family photos and then headed home to get things set up. I started feeling a little under the weather. My stomach was just very unsettled and I just felt blah. I'm still not feeling the best, but I can tell I'm starting to feel better.
Then we also had a family birthday party for my grandson Monday night at our house.
I was supposed to go on a girls weekend away in Idaho with two other friends, but we had to cancel. It was a good reason though...one became a first time grandma. Since her son and daughter in law live near where we all grew up, we are just going to meet up on Saturday to see each other. It's a 2 1/2 hour drive from where I live so not too bad. I'll leave early in the morning and then drive home before it gets dark.
Fun post today! I went on a few roller coasters as a teen but I detest them as an adult. I remember going on a small one just because my girls wanted to and I didn't want them to think I was afraid. I wasn't afraid, but my stomach just doesn't handle even a small roller coaster well at all.
ReplyDeleteThanks. Definitely cannot do them
DeleteYou've had a lot of good stuff going on! I've seen pictures of some PNW coast and the pictures are stunning. I can imagine how gorgeous it is in real life! Your MIL jumping out of a plane? Color me impressed!! Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteIt has been good.
DeleteThe scenery out your way is so gorgeous. I’ve lived in the South for most of my life, so I always take advantage of the opportunity to head across the country.
ReplyDeleteThank you. Yes it is. But I love traveling all over.
DeleteI agree about the Oregon coast-it's stunning! We were there in the fall so didn't attempt swimming, but there were crazy surfers out. Our lake temp is in the 80s : ) Has your m-i-l done any skydiving? That's in the same category as roller coasters for me lol. It sometimes takes me a full week to get around to commenting, and a few slide through the cracks. I think if you comment now and then that's fine. Everyone is busy and understands the pull on time. Hope you enjoy your visit with friends.
ReplyDeleteShe just did her dive and it was quite the experience.
DeleteI lived in PNW for a few years in the 80s. I was up near Seattle but my father-in-law had some land on the Olympic peninsula that we used to visit. It was right on the water and we would camp there in our tent. We could scramble down the little path with a little knife and a bottle of tabasco and eat oysters right off the beach.
ReplyDeleteOh, that sounds wonderful. I love the Olympic peninsula.
DeleteI too love the Oregon coast! It’s gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteSo your MIL is going skydiving at 80 years old? Wow! I applaud her and the others!
Commenting on others’ posts is difficult. I am an early riser and try to read blogs and comment then. I do enjoy the back and forth with many blog friends. We are all very busy people and totally understand.
My MIL is pretty amazing.
DeleteI always enjoyed visiting the BC, Washington, and Oregon coasts - a different kind of beach - all rocky and wild and crashing waves! That's amazing that your MIL is celebrating her birthday by skydiving!! Wow! I would never. We were going to try out a hot air balloon last weekend and that was terrifying to me. LOL Hope you're having a great week!
ReplyDeleteYes, definitely a different kind of beach.
