Wednesday Hodgepodge

It's time for Wednesday Hodgepodge with Joyce, who blogs at From This Side of The Pond.  Each week she'll pose some questions for us to answer. What a great way to journal life.

1. On July 29th 1957 The Tonite Show premiered with Jack Parr as it's host. This marked the beginning of the modern day talk show. Do you watch any daytime or late night talk shows today? I used to love watching The Chew. I also liked Regis and Kelly, Oprah (in the past) and sometimes Ellen Degeneres. Mostly daytime shows. I also liked some of our local daytime shows. Do you have any thoughts on the hubbub surrounding the cancellation of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, or are you more in the camp of 'who is Stephen Colbert? Well, I haven't heard anything and haven't really ever watched him so no idea! But talking about late night shows. I do think Jimmy Fallon is hilarious so maybe I would watch his show here and there.

2. What's the best part of your day? Oh boy...this is a tough one because I feel like it would depend on the day. I do enjoy the part of the morning when I'm by myself and the house is quiet. I have my cup of coffee and it's just peaceful. I also enjoy the part of my day where I just relax in a bath, or go out and pick blueberries and water the plants.

3. What's something your generation does that you actually dislike? Uses the phrase "when I was a kid"..haha. It's not a fair statement because in general many things are not remotely close to what they were when we were kids and it is just a different time. Progress happens and a lot of it is good and it all comes down to what we make it to be.

4. When you cook do you clean as you go, or clean it all up once you're finished cooking? I try to clean as I go, but it doesn't always happen. I'm also not always the neatest cook. What's the last thing you cooked/baked in your own kitchen? Dinner last night. I cooked up some chicken to have on salad...it was a really good salad too. Hit the spot. I'm going to try and make some bread today. I had one of my sourdough starters overflow last night so my counter was a bit of a mess this morning.

5. Sum up your July in ten words or less. It was a busy but fun month.

6. Insert your own random thought here. I did manage to get around to many of you last week/this week...haha. For sure those that took time to visit me and several others. I've just told myself "you just can't do it all". Haha.

This weekend we're hoping to go to our county fair with the family. It's a fun time and we love going.

My 80 year old mother in law jumped out of a plane last Sunday and did a tandem skydive with 3 others. What an experience. She said she won't do it again but glad she challenged herself to do it. The grandkids loved watching.

  2. Ahh! Your time on a morning sounds lovely, I like that peace on an evening before I go to bed.
I am guilty of saying "when I was a kid" all of the time. Life really was different back then.
Have a fab time at the country fair and wow! Your mother in law sounds an amazing lady! It goes to show that age is just a number!

  3. I laughed at your answer for #3 because I used to get so annoyed at the "when I was your age" stories from older relatives but then I started doing it! We just turned it into a family joke so it's all in good fun.
Your mother-in-law is a rock star!! What a great example of living life to the fullest!
Hope you're having a great week!
