Taking in Life Around Me.....Sunday Stills: Paths and trails

This #sundaystills challenge is hosted by Terri from Second Wind LeisureIt's a great themed photography challenge that you'll enjoy. I love seeing the other participants interpretation of the theme each week...it causes me to think outside the box. I joined in hopes of it pushing me to get out and take more photos...I have to some degree, but I also like that Terri is okay with us finding photos in our archives, which is also a lot of fun. So check out my photos and then head over to Terri's page to participate or visit other's posts. There are some awesome contributors who always inspire me

In keeping with celebrating the great outdoors, this weeks theme is Paths and Trails. I love finding new paths and trails to take when out in nature. In life, I'm a little more cautious.."blaze a new trail"? I will ask, what's the risk..I'm not so sure about that. But in nature, I'm more apt to go, "let's see where this trail takes us". I will not however, leave the trail..haha.

A few weeks ago, I went to Lake Sacajawea (I've mentioned this lake many times). It's one of my favorites. I spotted these two geese walking across the walking path. I thought it was perfect. They were heading to the water.

There is a walking path that goes all the way around the lake. It covers about 3.6 miles. A beautiful refuge in the center of the city.

The paths at Lake Sacajawea are popular with people of all ages, and those who work at the nearby hospital will walk on their lunch breaks. Old trees line the lake. Geese and duck are always present.

This is an entrance to one of the islands on the lake. the footpath is beautiful and the island is so peaceful.

The Japanese garden at the Butchart Gardens was one of my favorites. I love this arched area over the path.

Wherever we are we'll find some paths to travel down. It's even more fun if the grandkids are with us. When we visit Seabrook, Washington, we'll take paths to the beach and paths through the forests.

Last November my hubby and I went to the Willamette Valley for a long weekend one of our stops was to Durant at Red Ridge. We walked through vineyards and olive groves. The paths were defined more by grass than dirt or gravel.

On my recent trip to Ohio, I walked this path to a very unique sculpture studio. Not my taste at all, but some interesting things.

The grandkids were all about taking a walk through the woods in Seabrook. We had fun seeing where it would take us.

A few more paths at the Butchart Gardens. It's always fun to see where paths may lead, no matter where you are.

On Lake Eries Kelleys Island, Glacial Grooves is a site to see! Carved out by Glaciers making a path through the rock, it is a reminder of how powerful nature is.

One of my favorite trips has been to the Mt. Rainier N.P. and the Olympic Peninsula.
We spent a lot of hours on trails, enjoying the beauty of nature.

If you can find a walking path in the midst of a city.....take it. This was along the river on a stop in....well, I can't remember...but not far from Leavenworth.

This particular paved trail is part of the Olympic Discovery Trail.

I will always be up for exploring in the great outdoors and seeing where the trail might lead us.

With Joy Unquenchable,
Kirstin

  3. Beautiful pictures of trails here, Kirstin. It's wonderful that your grandkids get to go on them. Glacial grooves looks interesting but difficult to hike. I liked all the pictures but the one of the Olympic trail, the second last and third last ones stood out. The trail with the shaggy trees looks something out of Jurassic park.
