Wednesday Hodgepodge

It's time for Wednesday Hodgepodge with Joyce, who blogs at From This Side of The Pond.  Each week she'll pose some questions for us to answer. What a great way to journal life.

1. What's your favorite room in your house and why? I would say our new addition is my favorite space. It is a sitting area/kitchen, I like to think of it as a gathering area. There's no TV, swivel chairs that turn towards the kitchen, a pretty gas fireplace, and it's just a space I love. I've shared photos of it before, but here's one more.

I took this pic, this morning. I still need to add a few things to a few walls, but I do love this area.

Christmas is my favorite. I love how it looks decorated.

2. What's something that will instantly annoy you? Sometimes drivers can instantly annoy me. Most posts on social media that are about anything on any side of the political spectrum...I don't care what side is sharing it....I'm going to be annoyed by it all. The news annoys me. Assuming that if people voted a certain way, then they are terrible, uncaring, unfeeling people. I'm done with it all! When I drop or spill something, I can be instantly annoyed.

3. May 28th is National Hamburger Day...will you celebrate? Probably not. I've already made them this week, and didn't have them on the menu. How do you like yours? I like mine a variety of ways. Grilled is definitely the best. I kind of like a bit of a "crispy" top. I usually top mine with ketchup and mayo. I love sauteed onion and mushrooms, pickle, avocado, lettuce lots of melty cheese, oh and I do love bacon. I don't always put all of those on at one time, but sometimes I do.  If you're not cooking at home is there a favorite place you like to go for a burger? I've tried them a variety of places. We used to go to Red Robin a lot. Locally there are a few burger chains that are pretty good. If a place is known for their burgers, I'll try one. I've yet to really have an amazing smash burger. Did you ever work in a fast food  restaurant? Nope. We don't really eat much fast food either.

4. What are three scents you like? I love the smell of fresh cut grass, lilacs, and fresh baked bread.

5. What do you miss most about being a kid? I loved exploring the woods across from our home. It was filled with trails that were perfect for riding bikes. There was a creek that bordered it, that we played in. Our little neighborhood area was just perfect for growing up. I missed having few worries.

6. Insert your own random thought here. The first week with my daughter and her family living on the property is here (they started staying here last Thursday). It's been fun having them up here. I think it will be so good for everyone. We're settling into routines and the grandkids are doing great with the change for the most part.

I had 5 days off in a row because of Memorial Day and I will admit by schedule has been off (as far as not remembering what day it was). I accomplished most of what I wanted to. I still have to go out and do some weeding today. If I can get one spot mostly weeded, I'll be a happy camper.

Cutting this short so I can get a few things done before heading outside.

With Joy Unquenchable,
Kirstin

  1. The new addition is really nice! Your kitchen is beautiful! I'm glad that it's working out well to have family so close by. I hope it continues to go well. I agree with your annoyances though I don't mind political discourse (but I'm not talking about on SM because I'm not on that). We seldom eat fast food as well. Have a great day!

  3. What a great space in your home. It looks so welcoming and cosy.
The news annoys me too, especially when it all seems to stir up hatred.
It sounds like you grew up in such a wonderful place, perfect for those childhood adventures!
How lovely to have your daughter and her family living so close by.

  5. I love your new addition. How fun it is for it to be so open and large enough for you to enjoy cooking and talking with guests or family.
How wonderful to have your daughter so close by. I would love that if my kids lived close! Lucky you!
I hate the news too. And I scroll by all social media political posts. Doesn't matter which side of the aisle. It goes on by!
Hope you got your weeding done. I know the great feeling it is when it gets done.
    Take good care!

  8. Wow, that's a beautiful room. I can see why it is your favorite. It is easy to be annoyed by all of those things. Your burger sounds delicious. I haven't had a smash burger either. Those are 3 nice scents. Sounds like a nice childhood. Glad things are going well with your family staying with you. Take care.
