Wednesday Hodgepodge
2. Do you like honey? Yes and no. I like a mild honey, which if I understand from a fellow beekeeper is spring honey. It's always interesting tasting different flavors of honey. Apparently hot honey is a thing but I've never had it. I just made some fermented garlic honey...it is actually pretty tasty. What's something you make or enjoy that calls for honey? A Lavender Honey White mocha is a favorite and what I'm drinking right now as I type this. I like toast with peanut butter and honey, or a rice cake with the same. Teriyaki dishes that use honey are yummy. I actually just made some fermented garlic honey. It's supposed to be a good immune booster and garlic and honey have great healing properties.
3. "Gracious words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body." Proverbs 16:24
What's a proverb you love, or one that speaks to you or has helped you in some way?
Bible Proverbs:
4:7...Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding.
4:23...Keep your heart with all diligence. For out of it spring the issues of life.
Of course I love Proverbs 31. In fact when I was in college one of our professors paraphrased this verse so beautifully. I wish I still had my notes.
As far as other proverbs that I sometimes use or like:
Out of sight, out of mind; great minds think alike; you snooze, you lose.
I'm sure I could list more!
The Bible is full of Proverbs, a whole book in fact, if that helps with your answer. The word proverb is defined as 'a short pithy saying in general use, stating a general truth or piece of advice'.
4. Tell us about a 'sweet' moment in your life recently that filled you with joy, gratitude, or peace. Spending a few hours with my daughters the Saturday before Mothers Day definitely filled me with all of these things.
5. When you were a child, what did you want to 'be' when you grew up? I thought it would be neat to be a librarian or teacher. How close did you come to that? Not close at all. I don't think I could've handled being a teacher, but I think I could've enjoyed being a librarian or working in a book store.
6. Insert your own random thought here. I always try to get my post done early in the day but it almost never happens. This morning I had a dentist appointment at 8 and then planned to come right home. I ended up stopping by my daughters church and hanging out for awhile watching my grandsons homeschool co-op events while they went up and placed the RV on our property. By the time I got home I had a few other things to do AND I had tweaked my back when I got out of the car at the church. So now, I was also moving slower. I needed to wash our car so I pushed through and did it. Then went to the Chiropractor, came home, hopped in the cold plunge, then the hot shower, then started making kombucha. By the time I was done, it was time to start dinner, then water plants....I'm finally finishing the post at 8:04 pm. I'm hoping my back feels better tomorrow morning. I have to work the next two days.
Hope everyone has a nice memorial day weekend if you're in the states.
I made it around to a few peoples posts last week. I apologize for not hitting more. Maybe this week I can do better because I really enjoy reading everyones answers.
Good luck with the party planning and how lovely to have your daughter and family staying with you for a while.
ReplyDeleteI have heard that garlic honey is great for immunity boosting!
What a day you had, I hope your back is feeling better now.
thank you. The back is much better. Yes it is wonderful having them up
DeleteI'm super curious what the lavender honey white mocha tastes like. Sounds so interesting. And I've never had garlic honey but I know both garlic and honey are good for you so I should see if I can find that. My daughter's father-in-law keeps us supplied with honey from his bees. It's delicious. The book sounds like a wonderful gift. Good luck with all the planning.
ReplyDeleteIt is so good. It's a very pleasant flavor. Not overpowering at alll.
DeleteSounds like a fun adventure to have your kids stay with you for a time. I've never heard of fermented garlic honey, but it does make sense, with all the dishes that combine those flavors. I would have liked to be a librarian too - I remember making my own card catalog system for all my books at home when I was a kid. Before I understood the Dewey decimal system so it was a bit chaotic. Hope your back is feeling better and that you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteIt sure is. HAHA...I had my own card catalog too and had cards I put in the front of my books.
DeleteI forgot that I wanted to be a librarian as well! I do still love books but I don't think that would have been a good field for me so it's best I didn't pursue it... I love hot honey! It's big around here- restaurants carry "hot honey" items and you can buy hot honey in the store (or make your own!). Your time with family sounds so nice! Good luck with the party planning for your MIL!
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried hot honey yet.
DeleteWell I'm just getting around to responding to comments. Your Wednesday sounded very busy and I hope your back is ok now. Enjoyed reading your post.
ReplyDeleteI was really late getting around to commenting too. I usually am. I have great intentions but it gets away from me and there are so many people to comment on.
