Weekend Coffee Share....Come Sit with Me
It's another week of Weekend Coffee Share. I always love everyone's posts. Are you like me and try to visit everyone? It doesn't always happen but I try. I have loved getting to know different bloggers and I figure if they take the time to write a post, I'll find the time to visit, even if it's a week later. I truly enjoy what you all share and I often learn so much.
Check out all the other posts on Weekend Coffee Share, hosted by Natalie the Explorer. I'm off to go visit some now. #weekendcoffeeshare.
If we were having coffee we'd probably talk about:
I decided to skip last week as it was just too busy, I did however get around to commenting on some posts from last week. I'm trying to do better. I have found myself stressing over getting something posted, and I decided I just can't do that. It's not worth it. It's silly, really. I don't blog for money, so why the pressure...maybe FOMO. Who knows. So I am just taking each week as it comes, or as it goes.
The weather: Sun, glorious sun! That's what we've been enjoying. The mornings and evenings are cold, but the blue skies and sunny days have been amazing. Upper 60's to mid 70's have been greeting us daily. We've had some rainy days mixed in, but as long as I have some sun, I'll take the rain...why couldn't it just rain at night. We'll be traveling soon to Tampa, FL for a conference for my hubby's work and it looks like temps will be in the low 90's, upper 80's.
What we're thinking about: Thinking about the things I need to do before we head out on our trip. I do have my clothes out but lots of little loose ends to tie up.
What we're thankful for: The opportunity to travel with my hubby to a work conference and have a few days before to do some sight seeing.
Around the house: I've been picking up plants here and there to add to my containers and my new side area. Last weekend I added mulch to my blueberries...I have a little more to do. It took me a good couple hours. We purchased some coconut mulch from Costco. It is compacted and so when you go to use it, you have to hydrate it. I put it in a wheelbarrow with water, and waited for it to expand and loosen. I broke it apart as I went. I think I'll like it.

Our daughter and son in law are going to be moving back to our town and putting a manufactured home on some property they were gifted from his dad. Once their house sells, they plan to put a 5 wheel/RV on our property til their new place is ready. We have to do some shifting of some things but it will be fun to have them up here.
I don't remember if I shared this, but I got the words up in my Kitchen. I love them.
For the love of food: The downside of going 2 weeks between posting, is that I often forget what's gone on. Ha! This last week I haven't made much that was exciting or new. The previous week I did make some zuppa toscana, baked potatoes with a vegan cheese sauce and some teriyaki chicken with some furikake rice that my daughters friend made. All very good. I also was playing around with making a video talking about a cozy mystery series and then making one of the recipes from one of the books. I did a gorgonzola garlic bread. It was fun. I probably won't post that video, but use it to "learn" what I need to do differently. I don't plan to make these professional by any means...just me in the kitchen talking about books and cooking, but I think the first one, while not too bad, could use some improvement. Mostly in my talking (not repeating myself), and being more prepared with the ingredients (I kept having to go off camera). The bread was good though.

For Easter I made scalloped potatoes, broccoli salad and homemade rolls.
We're heading to Florida in a few days and I'm hoping to try some things that are popular in the area we'll be in. I've had alligator when I've visited my family there. This time we're in the Tampa area and I know there are heavier Cuban influences so I'd like to try something along those lines.
For the love of reading: I was almost done with my pass along book club book but had to get in the mail so I kind of skipped through parts...It was somewhat predictable so I didn't feel like I missed much. I'm still working through When the Moon Turns Blue by Pamela Terry. I will bring The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek with me on our trip to read.
What we're listening to or watching: I started listening to Down the River Unto the Sea: King Oliver #1 by Walter Mosley. I think it will fit one of the prompts in the 52 book club. I did start Watching Meaghan Markles Netflix show. It's good. I really enjoy it.
Favorite Quote: I thought both of these were really good reminders!
Favorite photo(s): I was seeing a lot of people on IG using ChatGPT to turn photos into Beatrix Potter photos, so I tried a few. So cute.
The front of our house.
Random or not so random things: Chances are I won't post next week unless I do so while my hubby is at the conference. We will see.
The other day I made my grocery list on my phone...got to the store and saw the first item....ummmm. no clue what it was supposed to be. I know it wasn't cocoa or chia seeds or chai. I'm doing duolingo and I have a spanish keyboard and italian keyboard on my phone. Sometimes it's not in English and the words are really funny when I'm not paying attention.
A few weeks ago the kids and I made dandelion play dough. It was fun, though they said it smelled gross when we were mixing it in the blender. I'm glad they like to do crafts and fun things.

I tend to have mixed feelings about going to conferences. I like the travel aspect but then I realized I didn't spend much time exploring because I spent majority of my day working :-P. I haven't done a conference outside of my region for a long time, but I think with my life as a single parent, it will be a loong while.
ReplyDeleteIt would be hard as a single parent. My hubby and I came 3 days early so taht was nice and now I'm on my own for the next three, except for evenings and lunch. I brought books to read.
DeleteYour bread sure looks tasty! I find that I can't remember what I do from one day to the next so I try to write my monthly summary posts as I go along. I'd hope that I'd remember more if I did weekly but I'm really not sure I would sometimes as sometimes I need the photos to even jog my memory of the day before! I hope you have a great time on your trip.
ReplyDeleteThank you Joanne. It was good. That's a good idea to write as you go along...I should try that. Or at least maybe in a notes section, the highlights or things I'd want to write about.
DeleteEnjoyed reading your post! I hope you have a great time in Florida- opposite side of the country. I'll bet it's neat to go someplace so different from your own state. I like the words in your kitchen and what you did with the chatGPT. Your food looks yummy as usual!
ReplyDeleteThank you maria. It is neat to visit new places. Now that our girls are grown, we have a bit more time to do things just the two of us.
DeleteThank you Natalie. I'm happy with how they turned out
ReplyDeleteYour bread looks delicious! Now I am hungry. lol!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your chatGPT images. How fun!
Enjoy your Florida Vacation. It’s always fun to get away.
Happy May!
