Wednesday Hodgepodge
2. Have you visited many (or any) of the US Presidents homes, monuments, libraries or related sites? Nope, I have not. I think mostly because I've lived on the west coast most of my life and it really has never been a priority for me. If so what's been your favorite? Are there any you particularly want to see? Well, after looking at the link provided, there is one in Washington (up in Seattle) and 3 in Oregon, 2 of which are in Portland, close to me, so maybe I'll venture to see those, just for the sake of seeing them. Here's a link to presidential sites listed by state which is kind of fun to read-Presidential Places by State. And since several bloggers who participate in the HP each week live outside the US, here's a link to Presidential Places Outside the US. Have you seen any of those?
3. February 20th is National Cherry Pie Day...will you celebrate? Nope. The only cherries I like are fresh off the tree. Given your choice of cherry pie, cherry cobbler, cheesecake with a cherry topping, or black forest cake which would you choose? None, but if I had to, I'd choose the cheesecake and scrape the cherry topping off.
4. Last time you worked a puzzle of some kind? I always have a puzzle going and I also like to do word or number puzzles on my phone. I've always been this way. I LOVE puzzles. Something that had you puzzled recently? Well, at work we had a funny thing happen and we're not sure why, though we have our guesses. I was off on this day, but pictures were sent in our group chat. we have a blue tub on our back dock that we keep cardboard in. We have a habit of looking in there because sometimes Amazon Flex Drivers deliver packages when we're closed (which they aren't supposed to do) and we have found some in there. Anyways...one of my co-workers looked in it and found an unopened bottle of alcohol. THEN when they went out to collect the mail from a mailbox we have outside (like the blue mailboxes the post office uses), they found another unopened bottle. That was puzzling, though our guesses were that someone was ditching them because they were afraid of being caught...whether stolen, underage, who knows, that will remain a mystery.
This is the current puzzle I'm working on. I love the brand White Mountain Puzzles. They are based in NH and are USA made.
I found this one at a used bookstore yesterday...I just had to get it. How cool!
5. Of the early blooming flowers (January-early March depending on your zone) which one's your favorite? Daffodils, crocus and snowdrops are faves.
snowdrops, lenten roses, pansies, violets, snapdragons, reticulated iris, crocus, winter jasmine
Do you have any of these in your own yard/garden? I have daffodils and a few others. I need to get more, but always forget come fall.
6. Insert your own random thought here. Last night I was thinking that I need to get out and prune my blueberry bushes. I think we're supposed to have some dry days next week so maybe I'll put it on my calendar to do it then.
I thought I had a few other things I wanted to share but now I can't remember what they were soooo we'll just end it here today. I am hosting a surprise baby shower tonight here at my house and am supposed to have an electrical inspector coming to the house today so a full day of prep for the shower, hanging around til the inspector shows up and getting other things accomplished. Let's do this.
Ahh! I feel like that sometimes with a little bit of frazzle in my life.
ReplyDeleteI am looking forward to the warmer months to go cherry picking, my dad has trees. I love fresh cherries.
How odd to find the bottles of alcohol. What a mystery.
I hope the baby shower goes well.
Oh I like the Sunset puzzle. Do you ever glue your puzzles to hang on the wall?
ReplyDeleteThe mystery... hmmmm... keep us updated. ;-)
Best wishes for the baby shower.

Oooh, a surprise shower-how fun! I ordered a puzzle table but it seems lost in transit so I guess I'm back to square one. The site seemed iffy and I should have known better. Have fun tonite!
ReplyDeleteI suppose I'm often low-level frazzled, but I'm used to it! Love that Sunset puzzle, though I wouldn't work on it. My husband is the jigsaw puzzle person here, and he has quite a few White Mountain puzzles. Hope you're having a great week!
ReplyDeleteI love puzzles too. I hope the shower went well and have a good weekend!
ReplyDeleteSo, I see White Mountain also includes a poster in the box to use for assembling the puzzle pieces. I like companies that do that. It's fun to put these kinds of puzzles together with all the individual sections. (That was hard to describe) That's weird about the alcohol bottles. Hope the shower went well!
