Taking in Life Around Me.....#Sundaystills: Monthly color challenge....Seeing shades of red

This #sundaystills challenge is hosted by Terri from Second Wind LeisureIt's a great themed photography challenge that you'll enjoy. I love seeing the other participants interpretation of the theme each week...it causes me to think outside the box. I joined in hopes of it pushing me to get out and take more photos...I have to some degree, but I also like that Terri is okay with us finding photos in our archives, which is also a lot of fun. So check out my photos and then head over to Terri's page to participate or visit other's posts. There are some awesome contributors who always inspire me.

For the next two weeks the theme is perfect for February.....Red! Or any shade of red or pink. Red is one of my favorite colors, both in clothing (though I don't wear it as much anymore) and in decorating (though now it's just as pops of color).

One of my favorite flannels, red and black check of course.

Last year when I went to visit my aunts and uncles in Ohio we drove by everyone's old houses. This was my grandmas house...Still red, though sadly the favorite honeysuckle bush as well as other trees were gone. It's funny how things seemed so much bigger when you were little. Below is a photo of myself (back left) my sister (in the red top) and some of my cousins.

Lots of pinks and reds in these hanging baskets at the Butchart Gardens!

I can't remember what this drink was now, but it was really good!!!

Butchart Gardens in British Columbia was a beautiful site. My hubby was under the weather this trip so we didn't linger too much.

I love a good red sauce for pasta and we made this when we did our cooking class with an Italian chef.

I spotted this barn/shed, whatever it is on my way to pick up my granddaughter from preschool. I love old buildings. this one was probably a pretty red at one point.

You can't see it too well, but this is a red brick church.

These red branches caught my eye while I was out driving around the other day.

One of the red barns in our town's farmland area. They rent it out for events.

These were put here to keep people who insist on taking the corner too fast from ending up in the water.

Kirstin

Lovely gallery of reds and pinks, Kirstin! I like that first pic of you in the red and black Buffalo check jacket! The cocktail looks refreshing too. Have a great week!

  3. Great pictures! I actually took one this morning where the pink of a garden flag really stands out again the white of snow around it. Your photos are all so good- I can't decide which is my favorite but you took some really good ones!
