Tuesday Four....Welcome January

It's time again for Tuesday 4 hosted by Anne from Cottage by the sea. Published each week in memory of Toni Taddeo, it's original author. We keep Toni Taddeo's original idea alive here with 4 questions each week to get you blogging, visiting and  learning about yourself and other bloggers.   The more people join in, the merrier and the better it gets. We are always looking for topics, subjects and ideas so feel free to chime in if you have idea.

I'll add that I went to go back and comment on everyones posts but the tab closed on my browser and I can never find how to get back to that particular post that shows the links.

Welcome to the New Year friends and to Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4.

Toni liked to talk about each new month and it's meanings.

January was named for Janus the two faced god who looked behind and ahead.  Its the warmest month in the southern hemisphere and the coldest in the north.
Garnet is it's gem stone.  Garnets come in all colors but the rarest is the Tzavorite.
January 7 is Eastern Orthodox Christmas because some eastern churches use the original Julian calendar which is 13 days behind the Gregorian calendar.
January become the first month of the year in 450BC for the Roman world .
Let's talk about two faced January.

1. Looking back, what do you hope continues or does not change in your life? The security of our jobs, and our health. Time spent with family and friends (though I hope for more).

 2. What good came to you from the previous year?  I don't know if I can think of anything in particular. I feel like it was just a good year overall. We were all mostly healthy and nothing major happened. I enjoyed the various trips we took and always spending time with my family.

3.  Are there things you hope to accomplish in the new year? I know it sounds cliche but I hope to get back on an exercise routine this year. I really slacked off last year and I can tell. I also hope to get some things planted in an area we did off our porch. I also hope to find a balance of better blogging time with the rest of life...haha. I want to find time to do more of what I enjoy...reading, blogging, photography. I need to manage my time better.

4.  January's flowers are the carnation and the snow drop. Do you sometimes buy flowers for your home? Sometimes I buy flowers for my home, but not often cut flowers. I love them, but they can be so expensive and die so quickly. What kinds of flowers to you like best? I like so many types of flowers but I'd say tulips and dahlias are among my favorite. I dream of having a cottage type garden where I can just go out and pick a variety of bouquets for my home.

With Joy Unquenchable,
Kirstin
