Taking in Life Around Me...#Sundaystills Theme: Eerie

This #sundaystills challenge is hosted by Terri from Second Wind LeisureIt's a great themed photography challenge that you'll enjoy. I love seeing the other participants interpretation of the theme each week...it causes me to think outside the box. I joined in hopes of it pushing me to get out and take more photos...I have to some degree, but I also like that Terri is okay with us finding photos in our archives, which is also a lot of fun. So check out my photos and then head over to Terri's page to participate or visit other's posts. There are some awesome contributors who always inspire me.

This weeks theme is Eerie!!! I've been finding that Sundays can be hard for me to post on (I know, I could get a post ready ahead of time but that rarely works). I loved Terri's entries and can't wait to see what everyone else came up with. Since I've been seeing  A LOT of Halloween decor I have been pausing to take photos. I'm not a huge fan of this holiday and it seems like the decorations are just getting more scary. My grandkids hate all the scary things.

It is amazing to me the length people go to decorate for any holiday..in the town where my daughter lives, there are a TON of yards decorated elaborately..

I spotted this at an antique store I happened to stop in.

This may not look eerie, BUT, on a recent trip to Neskowin, Oregon, I was looking up what to do in the area...well, one suggestion was the "ghost forest" and I thought "oh, that could be kind of cool"...there was a photo on the page that showed an actual trail through the forest and it looked foggy, etc...WELL, I couldn't figure out where it was...one day I was at the house (which happened to sit ON the beach), googling this ghost forest...lo and behold it said it was right in front of me! Apparently the ghost forest is ON the beach and is only visible at very low tide...it is a bunch of VERY old stumps that "rise out of the water during low tide"...needless to say we never saw it, so we must not have been there at the right time or it was early morning, late night when it wa dark. We got a good laugh out of it.

When we traveled to Anderson Island in 2022, we took a few walks through the woods and found remnants of an old homestead. It made me pause and wonder what life was like here for the people who lived in this home.
Also on Anderson Island is this old abandoned Ferry that was purchased by a local man years ago in hopes of reviving a ferry line. It never happened...now it sits abandoned.

I thought this photo of the Hoh Rain Forest could be kind of eerie with the hanging moss, and creating a BW image of it. Who might we find lurking in the trees.

Smoke filled skies are always eerie to me. Beautiful,  but eerie.

With Joy Unquenchable,
Kirstin

Hi Kirstin, I'm always glad to your SS posts and you don't have to post in Sunday. You have a great collection of eerie images! I'm with you, though, the fascination with Halloween and the lengths folks go with their yard decor is crazy! Some are too scary in my book.
Enjoy your week and Happy Halloween 🎃

  2. Hi Kirstin! I have trouble with weekend blogging as well, but we have the entire week to post. :) Those Halloween decorations are fun, but the sunset and sky shots were my favourites. Happy Halloween! 🎃

    1. We do...sometimes I feel like if I wait too long, no one will go back to visit especially since we have to scroll through comments...lol. Oh well. It's still fun! Thanks for visiting. I appreciate it.

    2. That's true! The first day is always the busiest. If I join a blogfest though, I try to check regularly if there are new entries. Yes, still fun, regardless. :)
