Tuesday Four...Painting with Tom Sawyer
Painting With Tom Sawyer
Norman Rockwell's Whitewashing the Fence |
Hannibal, Missouri has fence painting contests in July and and July 4th is National Tom Sawyer day there. They have a parade, carnival, fireworks, and a general good time is had by all it seems.
So here is another set of questions for Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4. I hope you enjoy them.
1. What special things happen around you in summer? Well, summer here in the PNW means less rain, more sun, and if you want, more time outdoors. I'm not sure about "special things", though our towns yearly celebration is in June, the county fair is in August, so those would be considered special. We enjoy going to farmers markets and other outdoor events. If nothing, have you ever considered organizing something? I've never really considered organizing something, other than family or friend get togethers. Maybe if I wasn't working, or didn't have other obligations, I would perhaps be a part of a committee.
2. Tom hated painting. But on the subject of painting, what color is your house? The name of the color of our house is Gristmill. I remember driving by a house and loving the color so I walked up to the door, knocked and asked the homeowner the name of the color. I've had someone come to my door asking the same question.
Thinking of changing anything? We just finished our addition to our house so we aren't thinking of changing anything over there, but I would like to paint the old side of the house.
3. Were your childhood summers carefree and did you have any adventures or chores like Tom did? I don't really remember having chores, other than keeping our rooms cleaned and just simply doing anything that was asked. We lived in a housing development that you drove down into, it was called Riverbend and it was because at one point it was part of the river bed of the Snoqualmie River. Across the street from our house were some woods with awesome trails that we spent hours exploring and riding our bikes through. We rode all around that development. It was huge but you at the time felt very safe. We'd play at the river, explore logging roads. We had a blast.
4. Did you ever help paint a house or a fence or anything at all? How did that go? I have painted many things. It went good. I'm not the worlds best painter, but I do okay. I've never painted a fence but I've painted walls in our homes many times.
Tapestry beige and enchanted forest look great together! I also have painted wall of our homes many times. I like the look of a freshly painted room.

I like the colors of your rooms. Your childhood sounds wonderful! I remember going in the orange groves and catching lizards. It was a much safter time, back in the 60's.
