Taking in Life Around Me....#Sundaystills : Theme..Red, White and Blue
This #sundaystills challenge is hosted by Terri from Second Wind Leisure. It's a great themed photography challenge that you'll enjoy. I love seeing the other participants interpretation of the theme each week...it causes me to think outside the box. I joined in hopes of it pushing me to get out and take more photos...I have to some degree, but I also like that Terri is okay with us finding photos in our archives, which is also a lot of fun. So check out my photos and then head over to Terri's page to participate or visit other's posts. There are some awesome contributors who always inspire me.
This weeks theme is red, white and blue and I have tried to be intentional while we've been on vacation this week to get some photos. I also finally got around to commenting from a few weeks ago. I've been hit and miss and I really don't like slacking on that. I do feel like it's important to not post and run. So forgive me if it takes awhile..most bloggers who participate get a lot of comments so they probably don't notice much...I however rarely get more than a handful so I certainly notice and I just enjoy seeing what everyone else has shared. Without further ado!
A few oldies but goodies:
I know it can be hard to feel patriotic these days, but I try and let my choice not be based on the political climate, but on the fact that I truly love the United States, and do love living here and I will honor those who serve and have served our country to have the freedoms (even when it feels like we don't) that we do.
A bench in one of the small towns we visited on our New England road trip.
Recent captures of Red, white and blue
On to some pics I captured while on our recent trip to Vancouver Island, British Columbia. I realized most of what I snapped was red and white.
Many Indigenous groups have lived in much of the areas of the Olympic Peninsula and around Vancouver Island. You see it in the many public works of art, including totems, etc.
One of the lighthouses we visited. A bald eagle sat in a tree to the right of the lighthouse for awhile. I hope to work on a blog post about our trip soon, and will include more information and photos.
This lighthouse stood on a location called Triangle Island..however the location wasn't ideal and it was eventually dismantled. I need to look more into it. It sits in this location as a tourist attraction.
I captured these flags after we boarded the ferry in Port Angles...the wind was in my favor and the flags cooperated.
Do you spot the red, white and blue at the top of this ferry.
A bridge in the Japanese garden at the Butchart Gardens.
Keeping my comments short on this post...it's been a long two days with traveling home and we had a birthday party here today and I'm feeling a bit under the weather.

Hi Kirstin! I love the patriotic flare you captured in all of these RWB shots! I love the lighthouses and the nautical theme. My fave is probably the 3 flags flying together. Very stately. Nicely done, my friend!
ReplyDeletethank you Terri! I loved the 3 flags...they finely cooperated and made for a nice shot.
