Taking In Life Around Me...#Sundaystills : Water

This #sundaystills challenge is hosted by Terri from Second Wind LeisureIt's a great themed photography challenge that you'll enjoy. I love seeing the other participants interpretation of the theme each week...it causes me to think outside the box. I joined in hopes of it pushing me to get out and take more photos...I have to some degree, but I also like that Terri is okay with us finding photos in our archives, which is also a lot of fun. So check out my photos and then head over to Terri's page to participate or visit other's posts. There are some awesome contributors who always inspire me

Terri is changing the way she does her set up for Sunday Stills. She has a busy summer coming up and she will no longer be posting our individual links in her post (which I know is super handy for commenting, but also very time consuming for her). I've managed the last few weeks to go back and scroll through her comments to find everyones links and visit. I'm hoping people will do the same for me. I don't get too much traction already, so I'm hoping it doesn't drop to just one or two (which sometimes is all I get).

This weeks theme is around water. It can be anything to do with water. Now, I LOVE water, I just don't enjoy swimming, getting my face all wet, etc. I will float on a raft, floatie, paddle a canoe, kayak or paddle board. Go out on a boat, wade in the water, but anything else, just isn't fun for me.  I'm not a strong swimmer so that could be a lot of it. We didn't spend a lot of time in the water growing up.

I'm not sure how I'd do if I had to take a sea plane somewhere. I'm sure I'd make the best of it. On a visit to the San Juan Islands, there wasn't a shortage of sea planes or boats and yachts (some REALLY big yachts).

My oldest and Indy Kayaking on Lake Erie. And below, proof I do go in the water sometimes. This was not close to shore...before this, I was up to my waist. There are quite a few sand bars in the lake.

You will always find fishermen on the water. There wasn't a lack of them off this jetty in Plymouth, MA. At sunset.
You can always find me combing the beaches for something special. Rocks, shells, anything! I try to always bring one or two home with me. On this trip to Anderson Island, I was hunting for sea glass.

One of my other favorite things is the sound of the ocean. I love to just sit and listen to it. This spot in Hawaii didn't allow me to "sit and enjoy", but I did stand there for awhile watching the waves.

On our most recent trip we stopped to enjoy Lake Crescent, which was really calm. When we came back through, it had grown choppy.

You'll always find me with camera in hand. I like this photo my hubby took. This was after I slipped and fell on a log. Scraped my leg, but thankfully the camera was fine too.

Ruby Beach was beautiful. The waves crashing, we walked and looked for some fun rocks.

I will also always be up for chasing waterfalls. This one was in Mt. Rainier N.P.

Sol Duc falls is a must see. The hike in was so pretty with a few small streams along the way.
The photo above and below were taken from the Glacier Bridge over the Nisqually River Basin. There was a little water flowing, and I'm guessing that as more snow melts this will fill up more.

This was crossing over the Hood Canal Floating Bridge, with a view of Mt. Rainier.
These grandkids are in heaven!!! Water slide that can also be used without the water. Oh boy! I joked that since we didn't get a pool that everyone can use, I'm buying a floaty and using it in there.
We can't leave out surfing...again, not for me. I'll stand on the shore, look for treasures and take pictures and videos! These girls gave it their all!

I did however, do water aerobics with my girls in Mexico. We are on the right side (three next to the guy in blue and white who was the instructor). We had fun and laughed so hard.

My hubby and daughters got out and swam looking for tropical fish. We spotted some whales also.

Hikes that take me along creeks and rivers make me happy...this hike took us along Lacamas Creek.

Early last summer we took the kids to a Swimply pool rental...it was about a 15 minute drive from our house but everyone LOVED it. We hope to do it again this year.

Our grandkids love the beach. Last year we spent time on the Washington coast helping take care of the grandkids while our daughter and son in law led a retreat with students from their leadership school. We're doing it again this year in September. Can't wait.

  2. You captured the water prompt so well - so many fun moments. I chuckled as I'm the same way - I'd rather take photos of the water than be in it. I'm not a strong swimmer either. But...put me on a beach in a tropical place, I'd have my toes in the sand and the surf and admire the vastness of it every chance I'd get. I love all the family photos of enjoying moments in the water. That's great that you laughed hard doing water aerobics too. I've never done that - way to jump in and have fun! 😍
