Taking in Life Around Me.....#SundayStills : Something to Do
This #sundaystills challenge is hosted by Terri from Second Wind Leisure. It's a great themed photography challenge that you'll enjoy. I love seeing the other participants interpretation of the theme each week...it causes me to think outside the box. I joined in hopes of it pushing me to get out and take more photos...I have to some degree, but I also like that Terri is okay with us finding photos in our archives, which is also a lot of fun. So check out my photos and then head over to Terri's page to participate or visit other's posts. There are some awesome contributors who always inspire me.
This weeks theme is "Something to Do". I chuckled because I thought of the phrases:
* "don't you have something to do?"
* "I'm bored, I need something to do"
* "these are the things I love to do"
* "Let's go do something"
* "I have so much to do"
* "there's nothing to do"
It can be the simplest thing or a well thought out plan. Spur of the moment or planned months in advance. It can involve leaving the house, or never leaving the couch. There's ALWAYS something we can do, there's ALWAYS something we are doing.
I just got back from reading Terri's post...haha. I haven't quite gotten mine finished. I love how she takes the angle of hobbies and leisure. DUH! She mentions blogging....I agree with her, that blogging is a hobby, at least for me it is. It is a creative outlet and, in a sense, an online journal. When my girls were younger and we homeschooled I blogged fairly regularly. Then they got older, life got a little busier and I simply pressed the pause button...still blogging once in awhile but not as often. Then a few years ago, I got an itch to start back up. I joined The Secret Recipe Club and had so much fun, then I slowly found more things to join in...Write 31 Days...that was challenging, but I enjoyed it. And over the last year or two have found several link parties I enjoy participating in. I love the connections I've made and even the few people I've had the joy of meeting IRL.
So what are some other things I like to do? Let me share just a few things.
Watching my grandson ride is dirt bike. I love watching he and his sister do pretty much anything. They are some of the greatest joys in my life.
I will almost always have my camera or at least my phone handy to take photos. It brings me joy, and is just plain fun!
Something I am enjoying is creating reels for the blogger I VA for. This usually entails visiting thrift stores (no complaints here...I love thrift/vintage/antique stores), to create a fun reel, or making a simple recipe from her blog. It's a challenge and it's fun. I sure wish I could put more time into it and learning how to do it better.
Puzzles are something else I love to do. They relax me and I'll often listen to a podcast or an audiobook while working on one. I bought a puzzle table a few years back so that if I needed to, I could tuck it under my couch. They take me awhile to do so this was a game changer.
Something I needed to do this weekend was make my grocery list. I still really like writing my ideas on paper, even though I make a digital grocery list and put the meal options on my Artful Agenda Calendar on the computer.
Making sourdough bread and now Kombucha has become something I love to do. There's something calming and rustic about it all. A friend was over and saw my large jars of Kombucha and knew I had just made rolls and said "it just feels "homesteady". I'm so far from a homesteader, BUT I do love doing things from scratch. Next up....pasta!
Reading is a new renewed love of mine in the last 4+ years. It is something I truly love to do. I'm part of a local book club with some friends. I spotted this book in a thrift store while visiting a thrift store to photograph and video content for IG reels. I just had to get it as we LOVE Little House on the Prairie. Something else to do, when there's not much to do is help my oldest with her coffee cart. It has been a joy, whether it's helping make drinks, or just flavor and collect money, or simply helping load and unload.
Creating simple things to eat is fun. We picked up these items in a market on Orcas island. It made for a perfect, light meal!
What other things do I like to do:
Take walks
Hike
Exercise (though I've gotten lazy)
Cook and bake
Entertain
Being hospitable
There are plenty of things I don't like, but we won't waste time on those!

What a great post full of your activities Kirstin - love all the photos too. You certainly have a lot going on and that's what makes it all the more fun. Adventures with your camera sounds like a great way to spend your time. #Sundaystills
ReplyDeleteThank you Deb.
DeleteGreat list of things to do. Of course, I'm all about adventures with the camera, but you piqued my interest with the bread and kombucha making. And being a grandparent is the BEST.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I'm enjoying both making bread and Kombucha, though the latter I'm still working on getting flavors, etc. right
DeleteI love this, Kirstin :) So many activities that look like such fun. I'm with you on the outdoors and photography, two of my favourite things...and reading too, of course!
ReplyDeleteThank you!!
