Putting Fingers to Keyboard: #WQ: Theme: Unlikely

It's another week of  Wednesday Quotes, hosted by Marsha from Always Write. If you're interested in joining, you can find more about #WQ here.

This weeks theme almost had me stumped. I wondered what I'd find. I shouldn't have worried since I find plenty of quotes about the word "unlikely". Now, to find pictures...which I like to do...to go with the theme, that might be unlikely! It might not happen.

Now, we can think of the term unlikely, in the form of: It's unlikely I'll win the lottery if I never play the game, it's unlikely I will die in a plane crash, it's unlikely that I'll ever visit all 50 states. It's definitely unlikely that I will ever finish reading all the books on my Kindle.  Or we can think of it in the directions my quotes went...that perhaps, it's in the unlikely places, people, things, that amazing things happen. Maybe an unlikely friendship that blossomed despite odds.

Proof that I may never read all these books. I really should go through and delete some.

I loved this quote! How sad, though, that we don't often have our eyes and heart trained to see things in unlikely places.

It is highly unlikely this old Ferry on Anderson Island will ever get moved.

I found this week and it struck me that I always want to be aware how in the past I only looked for friendships in obvious places, mostly church. Then I realized that sometimes when things change, especially beliefs, etc...those friendships can change because they were mostly established on agreement. I remember saying once, "wow, I should've expanded my friendships more to include those outside the church walls". It wasn't that I didn't have friends outside of church, but I had believed that those were the ones I needed to have the closest friendships with.

This lending library was in an unlikely place (at least I thought so). On a trail at the wildlife refuge.

Oops I noticed a typo. Either way, this quote is so important. Sometimes it's just the small things that make a difference, in our lives or in other peoples lives. I try to look for ways to make a difference in a strangers life simply by the things I might say.

I did think it would be unlikely that I would finish this puzzle because there was no photo to go off of, but I did, in fact, get it done.

I don't know if I would consider myself as a person having courage, though I suppose I can certainly think of some instances where I had courage to do something I was afraid of. This one definitely provoked some thought. What are unlikely places we might find courage?

Now, it is, in fact, VERY unlikely I will go on a zipline higher than this because I don't like heights.

With Joy Unquenchable,
Kirstin

  1. You are so adorable, Kirstin. I think you will go on a zip line, if the Lord needs you to do that. I think it's unlikely that He will, but you never know! I love the book box. It is well used and needs restocking. LOL I have tons of books, but it unlikely that I will ever see that box. The ferry is the perfect picture for this challenge. Great post!

  2. I like what you said about friendships in unlikely places. When we moved I expected that the church would be the first and most likely place that I'd find new friends - and we are making friends there, don't get me wrong! - but it was actually the choir I joined where I felt most immediately welcomed and accepted and most likely to make friends. We shared the interest in singing, but there's way more diversity in beliefs in that group than at church! I loved all your "unlikely" photos and I noticed that we picked some of the same "unlikely" quotes, like the Dave Matthews one. :-)

  3. I found your paragraph on friendship interesting and important. It's true that we need to step outside our boxes a little more. And I too chuckled at your "zipline" adventure. I did it once hundreds of feet up in trees, a true test of courage when we had to repeal 1000 feet at the end. But to date I am glad I did it, because now (following neck surgery) it is off the list of things I can do.

  4. I most definitely won't ever go on a zip liner. 100% unlikely!
Well done on finishing a jigsaw with no picture for it. I started a jigsaw a couple of months ago. I knew from the beginning that it wouldn't be rushed - for mindful purpose only. I only take it out occasionally. Thank goodness for the jigsaw mat that I found in a thrift shop for €3.
