Putting Fingers to Keyboard....#WQ Theme: Shiny/New/Reflective

It's another week of  Wednesday Quotes, hosted by Marsha from Always Write. If you're interested in joining, you can find more about #WQ here.

This weeks theme is around the thought of shiny/new/reflective, which can take on many interpretations. Marsha wove the theme into her #sundaystills post who's theme was yellow.

Now, I love shiny new things but I also love the old, vintagy, thrifty things that have stories behind them. I love mixing old with new. I don't mind wearing thrifted clothes. If I'm honest, I would love a brand new, shiny car. I wanted to find photos to go with my post but I just haven't had time to sit and do that, so no photos this week.

Sometimes this is definitely easier said than done, but it's so important to do this to some degree in our lives.

I totally agree...If we just stay right where we are, we will never see life differently, we will never view life through other places, other peoples eyes.

This was certainly truth to this.I like the idea that it is important to see things in new ways. That yes, it's good to have a destination, whether it be physical or where we want to be in life financially, etc...but it's more about the ability to see things in a new and perhaps different way. That perhaps if we are so focused on the one things, we may miss something else along the way, or miss the bigger pictures. We don't want an "end to the journey", we want to keep going on the journey. When we travel by car, my family has always just wanted to get to their destination. I would love to stop at all the little sites/sights along the way. I want to savor it and see what else is out there.

I believe this is one of the hardest of all. It can be so scary to start something new, especially the older we get. The risks are much higher. BUT hopefully we're willing to take the risk and step out. Both of my daughters have stepped out and started their own businesses...they are both still working other jobs, but their hopes are that these could support them fully. I love that they just knew they wanted to do this and went for it.

I have always loved this verse from scripture in this translation. So beautiful. I often think of Simba from the Lion King looking in the water at his reflection and his father saying "Remember who you are". We can so easily forget who we are, it's so easy to let others opinions of us shadow what we know to be true. I have faced that in the last several years with just one person, easily causing me to forget momentarily who I know that I am.

YES! This is beautiful and need no other commentary!

Aah yes! We see the evidence of this on a daily basis don't we, as we encounter people all around us. What we allow ourselves to see, how we allow ourselves to see, the lens through which we choose to look through will very much be a reflection of the life we live and how we see it.

With Joy Unquenchable,
Kirstin

  1. Some wonderful quotes here, and I like all the perspectives on the ways that new things are so exciting and so truly good for us. And the valuable balance between holding onto the valuable and comforting old things while still having the courage to embrace new experiences and challenges. It might be a big part of what keeps us young!
